Hey everyone, happy Monday!! Hope your week is beginning on a high note. I wanted to share another card I made for my BFF Tracie who retired last week. She’s going to move to the coast so I was going for a coastal theme. Brilliant, huh? lol
I used a couple of techniques with this card, sponging and masking. I stamped the lighthouse on a scrap piece of cardstock and then cut it out by hand. Stamped it again on the card, and lightly taped the lighthouse that I cut out on top then began sponging. I started with Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake for the sand, Marina Mist for the water, and then for the sky I used Soft Sky, Melon Mambo, and Daffodil Delight. I wasn’t happy with the way it turned out so I decided to add some Iridescent Ice embossing powder. I first stamped the entire piece of cardstock with the Versa Mark ink pad (leaving the mask on) using the ink to paper method , sprinkled on the powder, removed the mask and hit it with the heat gun. I am really sad to see this embossing powder retire, in fact when I checked the retired list earlier today, I saw that it is completely sold out. But you can see that this technique gave it a foggy appearance. Pretty cool if I do say so myself. Shows you that there are no mistakes in paper crafting, just opportunity to embellish! I then stamped the sentiment, punched it out, and added it to the cardstock. The whole effect gave the card a lavender tinge, so I went with Wisteria Wonder for the card base. Even though I started with Very Vanilla, by the time I was finished with all the inking, I thought it needed a pop of white to make it stand out, so I added a layer of Whisper White.
