Case-ing Tuesday Portrait Templates – 277
I have to be honest with you, these types of cards are not my favorite and I really struggled with this one. As you can see, I totally went off the rails for my take. 😛
The sample card was created to show case our Mix & Match Ephemera Die Cuts and labels. In my head I thought using the Fun For Fall Bundle would work perfectly. So I set out and chose my card base in Early Espresso and another piece of the Gingham Gallery DSP in Golden Glow. I stamped all of my images in Early Espresso ink and colored them with the Dark Smoky Slate for the crows with Golden Glow for the beaks. I felt Basic Black was too dare and you wouldn’t be able to see all the detail lines in the image. Hydragenea Hue, Peaceful Pine, Real Red, Dark Crumb Cake for the hat and light for his face, Golden Glow for the straw, Pecan Pie for the stick and Old Olive for the grass. I thought the Crumb Cake was too dark for his face, so I washed over it with the Color Lifter. I really like the effect it gave to his face. I colored the flag with the Light Crumb Cake and stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso. Once I die cut my pieces, I really did try to create my card with all the labels mentioned in the sketch, but it just didn’t look right. I scrapped the little labels and chose the largest one for my scarecrow. So, I attached my DSP with Seal, added my label then attached my scarecrow with dimensionals. Then I added all little die cuts with Mini Glue Dots and Mini Dimensionals. For bling, I added some of the 26/28 In Color Dots for bling.
For the inside, I stamped my sentiment on a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Basic White cardstock and attached it on the inside with Seal. The crow and the hay bale were were initially created when I was trying to use all the labels, so since they didn’t fit on the outside, I added them to the inside. The hay is colored with Golden Glow and the crow colored like the others on front. I didn’t want to wast any of the die cuts I created, so I thought they worked perfectly on the inside. They really help bring in the outside of the card.
I love how it looks like the crow is speaking the sentiment! For the envelope, I just decorated the flap with more of that cute DSP.
So even though it didn’t workout like the sample or sketch, I really like the way it turned out. Now it’s your turn.
