Welcome to another CASE-ing Tuesday! I am so happy you are visiting my neck of the woods! If this is your first time, welcome and be sure to join my email list to keep up on all of the scrappy news around here. I love Tuesdays because, let’s face it, they’re way better then Mondays! But also because of the CASE-ing Tuesday Facebook Group! Have you seen the sample we’re casing this week? If not, here it is:

I love that they include sketches now because they make casing (copy and share everything) so much easier! But I think the measurements on that front layer are a little off. I ended up changing that to look more like the picture from the Annual Catalog. Here are my measurements:

  • Card base in Pineapple Punch cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Pineapple Punch cardstock cut at 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Lovely Lipstick cardstock cut at 2 3/4″ x 3″
  • Whisper White cardstock cut at 2 1/2″ x 3 1/4″

I started by first choosing my stamp set. I went with the Piece of Cake set and then chose my colors. I raided my scrap bins to get all of the pieces, then cut them to size. I embossed my Lovely Lipstick piece with the Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder because it makes me think of frosting.  🙂  Then I pulled out my Stamparatus and stamped the sentiment in Pineapple Punch ink down the side. I stamped once, then moved the plate down each time for the spacing. I ended up doing that twice to get all of the lines stamped like the sample. I glued that layer down to the card front, then glued the embossed piece to that layer. Next I stamped the cake pedestal on the Whisper White layer in Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with the Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends combo markers. The Blends Markers are the alcohol markers from Stampin’ Up! that coordinate with our color families. Next I stamped the cake and the candles on a scrap of Whisper White. I colored the cake with the Pineapple Punch and Lovely Lipstick combo markers and the candles with all three of the colors. I punched the cake out and then I had to fussy cut the candles since they aren’t part of the punch. I added both with dimensionals and then flipped it over and added some adhesive to the back so I could attach a piece of the Bermuda Bay stripped ribbon. When I got the ribbon where I wanted it, I added some more dimensionals and added it all to the card front. I then added some Wink of Stella to the candle flames and the both layers of the cake. I love the bright colors!! What do you think?

Now it’s your turn! Create your take on today’s sample and share it with us over at the Facebook Group. If you’re not a member yet, now’s the time to join and play along! The fun part of casing is it’s YOUR card, you create it the way you want to! You can create it just like the sample or change it up a little or a lot, it’s all up to you!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
