Hey everyone! Happy Thursday! I hope your week is going well. I finally got a chance to play with the very popular August Paper Pumpkin, Sweet Sunflowers. Oh. My. Gosh. My favorite kit ever!! Stampin’ Up! has really out done themselves with this one – so much so this kit sold out and won’t even have refills available! Hopefully they take note and will bring this back as part of the Kit Collection! So, were you able to catch my Facebook Live? If not, you can watch the replay over on my YouTube Channel here. While you are there, please be sure to give my video a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel. I would be very grateful if you did. So let’s take a look at my layout first:

Here are the measurements for my layout:

  • Soft Suede cardstock base – 12″ x 12″
  • So Saffron cardstock – 11 3/4″ x 11 3/4″
  • Pacific Point cardstock – 3 1/2″ x 8 3/4″
  • Old Olive cardstock – 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″

I knew when I got this kit that I would be using elements for scrapbooking, especially pictures of my first Creative Escape Retreat that I held in June. The theme for the retreat was sunflowers since it was the first weekend of the summer. This picture that I chose is 3 very special ladies that took advantage of the photo op poster that I had ordered. This layout is based on a sketch I found in a magazine, one of my favorite ways to find inspiration! I knew I was going to use yellow and brown for the layout, and I didn’t want just a plain sheet of yellow, so I made my own DSP. I started by stamping the sunflower from the kit randomly in Crushed Curry ink on the So Saffron base. Then I stamped the centers in Soft Suede (these two colors are the color of the ink spots in the kit) and then I added some leaves in Old Olive. I had to use one of the bumble bee images, so they are also stamped in Soft Suede. That layer is added with Stampin’ Seal to the Soft Suede base. Next I trimmed the Old Olive layer and took one of the gold foil honeycomb sheets that was one of the extras in the kit, turned it over and used it as a mask to blend on some Old Olive ink over the layer. I then attached that layer to the Pacific Point and then both to the base with more Stampin’ Seal. Next I took the “mask” and trimmed it into random pieces and added it to both layers in somewhat random areas. I used an old dauber and added some Multipurpose Glue to it and dabbed it on the back of each of the pieces then adhered them to the layer. Next I added my 5″ x 7″ photo without a mat to the base. For my embellishments, I stamped the large sunflower from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set in Crushed Curry on a scrap of So Saffron and die cut with the coordinating die. Then I stamped the leaves in Old Olive ink on Old Olive and die cut them. I also die cut some of the stems in Pacific Point. I then stamped the sunflower die cut from the kit in Old Olive, (oops, open ink pad!) and then in Crushed Curry. Mistake that turned out really cute! I stamped the center in Soft Suede and then added lots of Wink of Stella on everything. I attached them all with Stampin’ Seal or Dimensionals Added the bumble bee die cuts from the kit, the label from the kit for my title and sprinkled on quite a few of the Iridescent Pearls. I really, really like the way this turned out!

Now on to card 1:

Here are the measurements:

  • Kit card base cut at 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Design a Daydream DSP cut at 5 1/4″ x 12″, scored at 4″ and 8″

When you first look at this card, you think it’s designed like one in the instructions. Until you open it!

This is actually a pocket card. I have seen a few demonstrators create them and thought it was perfect for a left over pack of sunflower seeds that were one of the pillow gifts from my retreat. Once you cut the card base in two, you can add the DSP. I trimmed the right edge on an angle first and then attached the layer to the card base adding adhesive to the back of the middle layer. I used some Tear & Tape on the straight edge of the angle cut and closed it to create the pocket. I die cut two scalloped rectangles in Basic White for the inside. The left side I stamped the sunflower, stamping off, and then the sentiment. Then on the pocket rectangle, I just stamped the sentiment.

The front of the DSP, I created the layer from the kit similar to the instructions and then added some of the yellow Glossy Dots for bling. In the close up, you can see the DSP showing through the honeycomb of the layer.

Now for card number 2:

Here are the measurements:

  • Card base in Polished Pink cardstock cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • So Saffron cardstock 2 cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Kit card base cut in 2 at 3 3/4″ x 5″

The card bases in the kit are soooooo gorgeous!! Even the back is printed, so why not cut them up and use them as layers on a card? I stamped the die cut from the kit and actually stamped it perfectly to follow the cut. I added Stampin’ Seal to the back of the flower and laid in some of the Polished Pink ribbon in a zig zag and added dimensionals to layer on the card front after it was all put together. I layered both the kit card base layers onto the So Saffron layers and then to the inside of the card. The front I stamped the sentiment and one of the bumble bees. and the inside the sentiment and more bumble bees, all in Soft Suede ink. I added the flower to the card and then sprinkled in some of the 2021/2023 In Color Opal Rounds. They go so well with everything!!

Here’s a look at the inside:

I love the look of the card base as the inside layer! It really ties it all together with no effort!!! And instead of using one of those gorgeous envelopes, I stamped one of our white ones.

A few weeks ago I shared that I am working my way towards earning the Norway Incentive Trip. Only about 1% of demonstrators earn the trip and I am very close! I mentioned that for every 2000 points I earn from sales, I would randomly choose a name for those that ordered and send them a surprise bling package. I did pull a name today, so if you would like a chance to earn a blingy prize, just head over to my online store here to shop. Every order placed will earn a chance to win a bling package. And don’t forget, we are in the last week of Sale-a-bration, so for every $50.00 order placed, you will earn a free item out of the Sale-a-bration Catalog or the list of Annual Catalog items added last week. Please use Host Code ESCZXJX9 when ordering, unless your order is $150.00 or more. In that case, you become hostess and earn free rewards.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!
