Hey everyone! Happy Friday!! Here is the final project we’ll be making at tonight’s May Hostess Club Workshop. Isn’t it pretty? I chose a stamp set that will be carrying forward into the new catalog and hasn’t seen much love lately. You’ve Got This is such a pretty set and is great for all different occasions.
I went with Flirty Flamingo and Whisper White as the color combination for this card. I had seen another card similar to this online, and thought it was time to bring back some dry embossing, that is an older technique. I try to make two samples of each project so each side of the table has access to a sample and for this one I did two different takes on the card. I first stamped the flower with Versa Mark Ink on the vellum and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. Once it cooled I flipped it over, set it on one of our pierce mats and “colored” in the flower. When you look at it after it’s done, it gives it a colored in effect. You have to be careful when dry embossing or the vellum can warp. As you can see in my sample, that’s exactly what happened to me. 🙂 I then stamped the Whisper White panel with the large distressed stamp in Flirty Flamingo. I then adhered the vellum onto the this piece using mini glue dots in the corners. You have to be careful adhering vellum since you can see through it. One of the things I like about Stampin’ Up!’s vellum is that it is thick, like card stock, so it takes the dry embossing really well. Then I adhered both of these panels to a Thick Whisper White card base. I took a strip of Whisper White, flagged the end with the Triple Banner Punch, stamped the sentiment and then tied a bow of the Flirty Flamingo Ruched Ribbon. I’m going to miss this ribbon, it has such a beautiful texture to it. I popped it up on dimensionals and added it to the card. Sprinkle on some pearls and you’re done. With the right sentiment it could make a really pretty wedding card too.
Here’s a look at the same card without dry embossing the flower. I think both cards turned out well, but if you don’t have the time to do the dry embossing, this is still a great option.
The retirement list only has about 2 weeks left, so if you like the ribbon as much as I do, now is the chance to get it before it’s gone. You can head over to my online store here and when you place a $40.00 order using Hostess Code 97HGXFU7, I’ll not only send you a packet of handmade cards, I’ll also send you the project packets for all of tonight’s projects ready for you to stamp and assemble. I hope you have a great weekend and get a chance to have some “me time” to just relax. Take care!
