Hey everyone, how’s your Wednesday going? I needed to create a birthday card for my soon-to-be son-in-law and since he’s a wood worker and has a wood floor restoration business, what better set to use then the Winter Woods? Perfect since it’s also this week’s Product of the Week! And this card is so super simple to create which is even better this time of year. Here are the measurements:
- Card base in Thick Very Vanilla cardstock cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
- Early Espresso cardstock cut at 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ and 3 3/4″ x 5″ for the inside
- Wood Textures DSP cut at 3 3/4″ x 5″
- Very Vanilla cardstock 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ for the inside
So are you sensing a theme with this card? lol I used Early Espresso ink to stamp the trees on the DSP. I went with the oak texture piece of DSP and thought the dark brown looked best. I pulled out my Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set for the Happy Birthday sentiment and added it to the corner. When I cut the Early Espresso, I wanted just a bit to peek out from behind the DSP, so I cut just 1/8″ larger then the DSP. I adhered them together and then both to the card front. I had one of the True Gentlemen Buttons sitting on my desk, so I added it to the card front with a Mini Glue Dot, then a double bow of some twine from Burlap Ribbon that I had left over went on top of the button. I think it looks pretty good. Here’s the inside:
I used the sentiment from the Another Wonderful Year and the pine cone from the Winter Woods stamp sets, both stamped in Early Espresso. I added a scrap of the DSP left from trimming the front piece to tie in the front of the card. Like I said, a very simple card. I know it could have been even simpler by using both sentiments from the Itty Bitty Greetings set, but I really like this instead.
