Hey everyone! Happy Thursday! I hope your week is going well. Were you able to watch my Facebook Live this morning? If not, you can watch the replay here. I received my July Paper Pumpkin kit over the weekend so we were able to create two alternates today.
This month’s kit is all about summer nights and included 9 full sized postcards with envelopes and the cutest embellishments!! Plus it contained these cute little tealight bags you can add those battery operated tealight candles too. Adorable!! Here are the measurements for the alternate cards I created:
- Card bases in Thick Whisper White and Misty Moonlight cardstocks cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Inside layers in Whisper White cardstock cut at 3 3/4″ x 5″
- Tealight bag cut to 3 1/4″ x 3 1/2″
- Rainbow Glimmer Paper cut at 3 1/4″ x 3 1/2″
I started with the tealight bag and one of the postcards to create my layer. I cut the tealight bag open and trimmed the die cut area to 3 1/4″ x 3 1/2″ then cut a piece of the new Rainbow Glimmer Paper to the same size. I attached those together with some of the Mini Glue Dots from the kit. Then to go with the rounded corners of the postcard, I used my Detailed Trio corner punch to round the corners. Next I stamped the fireworks image in Blackberry Bliss, which is the color of the ink spot included in the kit, randomly around the card. Then I got out my Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set and stamped the sentiment at the bottom of the postcard. I grabbed some of the gold trim from the Forever Greenery Combo Trim Pack and wrapped it around and tied it in a bow. **TIP** When tying bows with thin twine or trim, tie it in a knot first and then add the loops for the bow. That way the trim won’t slip on you. Next I glued this layer to the Thick Whisper White card base and then added the fireworks layer with dimensionals over the trim. I added one of the gold glitter star embellishments and three of the gold die cut stars to the front for added bling.
For the inside, I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 3 3/4″ x 5″, rounded the corners and then sponged on some Blackberry Bliss ink. I stamped the fireworks image again, stamping off first, and then stamped the sentiment, also from the Itty Bitty Birthdays set. I glued this layer to the inside and called it done.
For the second card, I used the Seaside Notions stamp set.
While scrolling through Facebook earlier in the week, I saw someone else use this stamp set and thought it was a really cute idea. So I pulled mine out and thought it would be fun to heat emboss some of the bubbles to give it a shiny look to it. I inked my seahorse first in Versa Mark ink and then Misty Moonlight and then stamped it on the postcard. By inking in the Versa Mark first, it helps the ink stay wet longer and this way you can heat emboss with any of our colors. I sprinkled on some clear embossing powder and then did the same with the bubbles. When stamping multiple times, you want to clean off your stamp before inking in Versa Mark again so you can keep your pad clean. Then I heat embossed the clear powder. I stamped the sentiment on the lower right in Misty Moonlight and then glued that layer to a Misty Moonlight card base.
For the inside, I stamped the seahorse again in Misty Moonlight, stamping off first, and then glued the 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White cardstock to the inside of the card. I left off the sentiment until I knew who I would be sending this too.
