Hey everyone! Yes, the end is near…the end of Sale-a-bration is tomorrow and the 2015-2017 In Colors are going to retire! Where has the time gone?? lol So in send off mode, I want to share a card using some of each.
I had a piece of the Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper leftover from a class, so I grabbed it and my Watercolor Pencils, one of my new favorites!! Now, I’m no expert on the water coloring technique, but it is a lot of fun. And did I mention very therapeutic? Yes, stressed out after a busy day? Color!! I love it! I used the Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Calypso Coral pencils and colored the images. I didn’t color them in solidly, just used some heavy outlining of the flowers and stems, then used my Aqua Painter to blend the colors. With thin Designer Series Paper you have to use a somewhat dry brush so as not to ruin the paper. It does buckle a little, but not bad. I used the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlets on a scrap piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper to cut out a small dragonfly. It got lost on the white background, so I grabbed the Calypso Coral pencil and colored the glimmer paper. I don’t think I would have colored a large piece, but the little one worked just fine. I wanted just a hint of the color added. I like the way it turned out.
Since the card base is Tip Top Taupe, yes, one of the retiring In Colors, I used the same color ink to stamp the sentiment from the Sending Thoughts stamp set. It filled in the extra white space perfectly in the patterned paper. I then layered it on to a piece of Old Olive cardstock. LOVE the way it turned out! And it was so easy to put together, which is always a good thing.
