Hey everyone! How’s your week going? It’s time to share the sneak peeks for this month’s Hostess Club Workshop. Did you know that you too can get the project packets to complete at home? Yep! If you place a $30.00 order by Saturday, July 22, using Hostess Code 3FWS7ZDR, I will send you the projects (these projects are card fronts only) to complete and a package of handmade cards, plus our July Hostess, MaryLou, will get credit for your order. And, since it’s Bonus Days, if your order is $50.00 or more, you will qualify for a $5.00 coupon to use when you place an order in August. Everybody wins!! 🙂
So for our first project we’ll be casing a card I made a couple of weeks ago using the polished stone technique. I showed to the girls last month and everyone loved it so I used the same colors but changed it up, which is one way to case a card. For those that don’t know what casing a card means, it means to copy and share everything. Now you can copy exactly as is, or you copy parts of it, maybe the sketch or the colors or some other element of the card. To create the polished stone effect you need cotton balls, rubbing alcohol, ink refills and glossy cardstock. We are using Dapper Denim and Lemon Lime Twist ink refills for this card. So you wet the cotton ball with alcohol, not sopping wet, but you do want it wet, then take one of the refills and dot it in a random pattern 3 or 4 times, then repeat with the second color. After you’ve added the ink, you want to dab the glossy cardstock randomly to create your pattern paper. The fun part about this is you’ll never have 2 cards look exactly the same. Be careful when dabbing because you don’t want to muddy the colors. Once you’ve got the effect you want, set it aside to dry. Next I stamped my daisies using the new Daisy Delight and punched them out with the coordinating punch. When you purchase those as a bundle, you’ll get 10% off. I glued each one together with mini glue dots and set aside. I then cut out the “love” in Whisper White using the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, stamped the “You More” in Dapper Denim and punched it out with the Classic Label punch. Once I punched it out I used one of our sponges and inked the edges in the Lemon Lime Twist. I then stamped the center of the daisy image in each color and punched them out with the 1/2″ circle punch. I then turned them over and used a stylus and with a circular motion added some dimension to the image. I used a dimensional to add the center to the daisy. By this time the glossy cardstock was dry so I added it to a piece of Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock and then to the Dapper Denim card base. I added the daisies with dimensionals, used mini dimensionals to both the love and the label to give them dimension too. Of course we can’t forget the rhinestones on the label either. Then I took some of the Fine Tip Glue and filled in the top of the daisy centers to create a glossy finish. I think they look like buttons. 🙂 And there you have it! I love this color combination, very summery.
Now head over here to place your order so you can make this card too. Remember to use Hostess Code 3FWS7ZDR! Have a great evening!!
