Hey everyone! Happy Thursday! I hope your week is going well. Today’s project is another slimline card. I have to say, I forgot how much fun they are to create! Were you able to catch my Facebook Live this morning creating this card? If not, you can catch the replay on my YouTube Channel here. While you are watching, I would love it if you liked and shared my video, and of course, subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already done so.

After creating the slimline card for my CASE-ing Tuesday project this week, I knew I had to create another one. If you missed that post, you can see it here. And if you haven’t had a chance to play along with us, I hope you will so that you can have an entry into our drawing for a card shower that celebrates case #300. So, here are the measurements for today’s card:

  • Card base in Basic White cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ x 7″, scored at 3 1/2″
  • Gray Granite cardstock 2 cut at 3 1/4″ x 8 1/4″
  • Peony Garden DSP cut at 3″ x 8″
  • Basic White cardstock cut at 3″ x 8″

I just had to use some of the Peony Garden DSP before it retired on May 3rd, and I thought this sheet in Gray Granite print was perfect for those moms that really aren’t into pink frilly kind of colors. And here’s a hint: When you are creating a card with multiple layers, it’s okay to use just Basic White for your base! It’s not as heavy as the Thick Basic White and we all want to cut down our postage costs with our cards, right? So, I trimmed a piece of Basic White and scored the middle. I glued my DSP to my Gray Granite layer and then both to the card front. Next I I die cut one of the labels from the Stitched So Sweetly die set in Gray Granite and the smaller one in Basic White. I stamped my sentiment from the Timeless Tulips stamp set in Gray Granite ink and then glued the two layers together. Before I added dimensionals to it, I added some strips of Stampin’ Seal to the back and added some of that Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon to the back. Some moms may not be into pink, but we still love our shimmer and bling!! 😉 I then added my dimensionals and added to the card. For my sublte bling, I added some of the Elegant Faceted Gems.

I used the Petal Pink gems to bring in some color as the clear just didn’t pop enough. For the inside, I figured there was plenty of room for decoration, so I stamped the large peony image from the Prized Peony stamp set in Gray Granite ink, stamped off so that it is a subtle image. Another hint: Stamp your envelope first and then your inside layer so you’re not wasting ink. Next I stamped the sentiment, also from the Timeless Tulips stamp set, in Gray Granite. I glued the layers together and then to the inside of the card. I like that sentiment makes it possible to give the card to any mother since many of us have moms that aren’t with us any longer.

See? You still have lots of room to write in anything you want. And that image is just gorgeous there at the bottom! Then for the envelope, I had stamped the same image on the front and then decorated the flap with a leftover strip of DSP. The #10 envelopes have skinnier flaps, so this is a great way to use up those leftover strips in the pack! (I’m just full of hints today!! lol) Since those envelopes are so large, it’s a great time to use larger images.

So what do you think? I love how it turns out! That paper is just so pretty without being over the top frilly. I know many of the ladies in my group loved getting this paper in their paper shares. And speaking of which, did you know that I am hosting a Paper Share for the 2021/2022 Annual Catalog that goes live on May 4th? You can see all the details on yesterday’s blog post here.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope I was able to inspire you to create a slimline card, even if it isn’t for Mother’s Day. If you would like to order any of the products used in today’s, just head over to my online store here. When you shop and use Host Code SZ4NWNUF and your order is $35.00 or more, I’ll send you a pack of those Elegant Faceted Gems. They are so pretty! You’ll find yourself grabbing them all the time for that perfect touch of bling! Have a great Thursday and smile! It’s almost the weekend!
