Hey everyone!! Happy Friday!! I hope you’re week has gone well and are ready for the weekend! I wanted to share my last alternate card for the Simply Citrus Kit Class we had last week. If you stopped by my blog earlier this week, you saw the alternate I created from one of the printed envelopes in the kit. If you missed that blog post, just click here to see it. Once I created the card from the envelope, I knew I would have a card base without an envelope…so that’s how this card was created! If you don’t know what the Simply Citrus Kit is, it is an all inclusive kit in the Annual Catalog that can be found on page 7 of the catalog. It has everything you need to create 15 cards. It has an exclusive photopolymer stamp set, a Night of Navy ink spot, a clear block to stamp with, 15 card bases, flower embellishments, tags, a spool of Baker’s Twine and even Mini Glue Dots and Dimensionals. You will need a pair of Paper Snips and your favorite adhesive, although, you could just use the Mini Glue Dots in a pinch. And of course the printed envelopes. Here’s a look at all you get:

It’s a really fun kit that includes a full printed tutorial for you to complete the cards. Aren’t the colors just bright and cheery? And who doesn’t love lemons??  🙂  Now for my alternate.

Here are the measurements for this card:

  • Card base in Mango Melody cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Card base from kit, card front cut at 3 3/4″ x 5″ and card back cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Whisper White cardstock cut at 3 3/4″ x 5″

I think this card base is my favorite in the kit, so it was my first choice to create my alternate card. This is probably one of the simplest alternates I have made in awhile. After I trimmed the card base from the kit, I glued the two layers together and then glued them both to the card front. I stamped the sentiment on one of the labels and added some dimensionals to the back. I glued the Night of Navy flagged banner to the card front and then added the sentiment tag on top. I added a bow of the Baker’s Twine with a Mini Glue Dot on the tag and sprinkled a few of the flower embellishments in the kit. I wanted a little more bling to the flowers, so I added some of our Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the flower centers. It was the perfect touch!

For the inside, I originally stamped the sliced lemon in Night of Navy and colored with my Light Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends, Stampin’ Up!’s version of alcohol markers. Not a good choice. I know that works well when using the same color ink as the blends, but the blue with the yellow smeared. So I got another piece of Whisper White and colored a circle with my Mango Melody marker and since the stamp is clear, you can see how large your circle needs to be. Once the circle was large enough, I stamped over in the Night of Navy ink. I did need to fill in a few spots, but it worked much better this way. I then stamped the leaves in Night of Navy and colored them with my Light Just Jade Stampin’ Blends marker. I stamped the sentiment, also in Night of Navy, glued it to the inside of the card, and I was done.

Isn’t that a fun card? And nothing from the kit goes to waste! If you’ve never ordered one of our kits, this is a good one to start with, especially since we’re in the Dog Days of Summer! 🙂 You can order one of these kits just by clicking on any of the photos in this post and it will take you right to my store. When you place an order that is $40.00 or more and use Host Code DXTZ3T2A, I will send you a brand new embellishment from the new Aug-Dec 2020 Mini Catalog. Don’t you just love happy mail?

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous Friday!
