Hey everyone! I had mentioned awhile back that I went to a retreat for National Scrapbook Day that I wasn’t hosting – I got to play! Well, I never shared the layouts I created, so I wanted to share them today. I created 2 two-page layouts using the Secret Garden Workshop Kit that Stampin’ Up! sold just after Close to My Heart closed. I held onto the kit for quite awhile and when going through some old photos, I came across some photos from my parents’ wedding. Bingo! I found the perfect photos for the workshop kit! I love the black and white photos with the soft colors from the kit! They were married in 1955 at the Little Brown Church in Studio City. It’s the same church that President Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy were married. From the pictures it looks soooooo cute!! I looked online and it looks like that church is still there.
Here’s the first spread with the measurements:
- Base in White Willow
- DSP strips – 12″ x 1 3/4″
- Photos – 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and 3 1/2″ x 5 1/8″ and 3 5/8″ x 5 1/4″
- Photo mats are 1/8″ larger than each photo

My grandfather looks so handsome standing there. Many thought he looked like Bing Crosby. Waiting to go into the church is my aunt, who was 16 at the time, my mom’s best friend along with the bride, Mom and my grandfather. Just look at the smile on my dad’s face as they walk back down the aisle!!
And here’s the right hand layout:
They look so happy as they cut the cake. I didn’t realize it at the time, but the cake topper on my and Larry’s wedding cake had a heart on it too. The things you realize when you scrapbook old photos!
I used my Cricut Joy Xtra to cut the title and the coordinating dies from the kit to cut the flowers and leaves. I did sponge some Smoky Slate ink around all of the flower petals, leaves and buds. The dots were also part of the kit.

- Base – DSP
- DSP – 11″ x 11″
- White Willow – 10 3/4″ x 10 3/4″
- DSP – 2 @ 2″ x 3″ to give the illusion of 12″ x 3″
- DSP – 9″ x 5″
- Photos – 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and 5 1/8″ x 3 1/2″
For this spread I used a sketch from Pagemaps.com, where I have been getting sketches from since 2006! They took about a 6-month hiatus and just came back in May. I really missed them! Here’s the left layout”
The top photo is of my grandmother, mom and grandfather. The bottom photo is of two of my aunts on my dad’s side, along with his grandmother. As you can see, I sponged the flowers again. I had intended to sponge all of the DSP layers too, but in all the chatter with my table mates, I missed that step. Here’s the right side:
I also used my Cricut for the title. Somehow I lost the “i” in lived, so I used my Bee Builder Punch to create a heart. I thought it was a happy accident that the title is now “And they loved happily ever after”. You can see how tired my mom was in the left photo. I wish my parents were alive so I could ask them who the lady was that was knocking on the car window. I can tell by my mom’s expression that she was pretty annoyed with the lady! lol I still need to do my journaling for the layouts, but I wanted to make sure you had a chance to see them. Sadly, the Secret Garden Workshop Kit isn’t available any longer, but the dies from the Pretty Florals are very close to the dies in this set.
