Hey everyone!! Happy Thursday! I hope your week is going well….and what a week it is!! The new July-December 2021 Mini Catalog and the second Sale-a-bration Catalog went live this past Tuesday!!! If this is your first time in my neck of the woods, welcome and be sure to join my email list so you can keep up on all the scrappy news around here. So, were you able to catch my Facebook Live this morning for today’s projects? If not, you can watch the replay here on my YouTube Channel. While you’re there, please give my video a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel so you can get notified whenever I post a new video. So let’s look at today’s adorable project.

Isn’t that little guy adorable? This card was created for one of my BFF’s who actually introduced me to Stampin’ Up!. Her birthday is coming and when I saw the new Penguin Place Bundle in the July-December Mini Catalog, I immediately thought of her! We are creating a fun fold card today which makes this an even cuter project! Here are the measurments:

  • Card base in Fresh Freesia cardstock 8 1/2″ x 11″, scored at 4 1/4″ and 5 1/2″, cut diagonally to create 2 card bases
  • Penguin Playmates DSP (FREE!) 2 cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″, cut diagonally
  • Basic White cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″

I love quick and easy fun folds and this is definitely one of those! My sweet friend Beth told me about this fold a few weeks ago and then sent me one! Everyone loves to get snail mail and I am no exception!! So to create the card base, I took my full sheet of Fresh Freesia cardstock and scored it on the short side at 4 1/4″, rotated it and scored on the long side at 5 1/2″ and then cut it diagonally. This creates 2 card bases. Here’s a look at what was left of my cardstock.

Next I took two different sheets of the DSP and trimmed them to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and cut them diagonally too.

When you have papers that coordinate, it is really easy to pick two that go together to create your card front. You can always emboss one of the triangles too, which is what Beth did. Once everything was trimmed, I attached the two pieces of DSP to the card front. I then punched out the body of the penguin with the new Penguin Builder Punch out of a scrap of Basic Black and Basic White cardstocks. I attached them together and stamped his eyes with Tuxedo Black ink. I stamped his beak in Calypso Coral ink. To dress him up a little, I stamped his beanie in Fresh Freesia and his bow tie in Just Jade ink, then fussy cut them both with my snips. I attached them both and added his feet that were punched out of a scrap of Bumble Bee cardstock. Next I cut a label from the Scalloped Contour dies and stamped the Happy Birthday in Tuxedo Black ink. I added some adhesive to the back of the label and added some of the Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon. This is just the prettiest riboon! I then added some adhesive just to the top corner of the label and attached it to the top half of the card base. I added my penguin with dimensionals and then sprinkled on some of the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels for my bling.

Isn’t he adorable?!? For my inside layer, I stamped the snowflake sprinkle image in Fresh Freesia ink across the top and the sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink.

I just love those sprinkles across the top! For my envelope I stamped the balloon stick in Tuxedo Black ink and the balloon in Fresh Freesia ink. In the video I added some of the DSP to the flap.

Here’s the envelope I decorated in my video. I definitely love using that paper on the flap – it’s just so happy!!!

Isn’t that a cute card? And that penguin is just too stinking cute! His little feet just make me giggle!! It really is a fun bundle to play with and that coordinating paper with all it’s fun colors is FREE! with a qualifying purchase. I love Sale-a-bration! If you aren’t sure what that is, it’s Stampin’ Up!’s sale that for every $50.00 you spend on product from either the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog or the new Mini Catalog and get to choose an item from the Sale-a-bration Catalog for FREE!
