Hello! It’s time to look at the October 2024 Paper Pumpkin Kit. What a beautiful kit! Here are the measurements:
- White Willow cardstock – 12″ x 12″
- Gray Granite cardstock – 12″ x 6 3/4″
- Two-Tone Real Red cardstock – 2 @ 12″ x 2″, edges torn
- Nests of Winter DSP – 12″ x 4″
Growing up in California where we do not have Cardinals, I have only seen them twice in my life. Once in Orlando when I attended the 30th anniversary of Stampin’ Up! and in Maui while attending the Incentive Trip that I had earned. (disclaimer: less than 1% of demonstrators earn the trip) The morning I took these photos was absolutely magical to me. First, while Larry and I were having breakfast, Shelli Gardner, one of the founders of Stampin’ Up! stopped by our table. She is the most gracious, humble and down-to-earth lady! We chatted about the excursion we were going on that day, which was snorkeling. When I mentioned I was a little apprehensive becaus I get motion sickness, she told me (in a very motherly sounding voice) to make sure I keep snacking to keep something on my tummy to avoid it. The whole chat was maybe 5 minutes, but is something I will always remember. Then, after she left, I could hear a bird chirping and looked up and saw this handsome boy. I snapped the first picture and then he turned and looked right at me! Such a special memory!! Everyhting in this layout except the die cuts from the Paper Pumpkin kit is attached with Stampin’ Seal. I used the Designer Tags die for my two tags and some retired ribbon in Real Red and Gray Granite. The title is stamped in Gray Granite ink and is from the Snow Day stamp set. I used a sketch from Pagemaps.com as my starting point for my layout. Now let’s look at my first card.
Here are the measurements:
- Thick Basic White card base – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Kit card base – 1 @ 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 1 @ 3 3/4″ x 5″
The card bases in this kit are tri-folds, which are pretty, but you know me – gotta cut them up!! lol After I trimmed the card base, I attached the layers together and then to the card base with Stampin’ Seal. I die cut the birds from the Nests of Winter DSP and added them to the card base with dimensionals. I really liked the effect of no sentiment on the front for this card; it really makes for a clean look. The kit didn’t have any embellishments, probably because of the foiling in the card base, so to keep it subtle, I just added 2 of the Iridescent Pearls. I thought it looked like stars like in the background of the layer.
For the inside, I wanted to coordinate the look, so I took a scrap of Shaded Spruce cardstock and used the large pine die and added it to the inside of the card. I then stamped the sentiment from the kit in Night of Navy ink. Definitely something different.
Here’s a look at card 2.
Here are the measurements:
- Shaded Spruce cardstock – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ and trim off 2 1/8″ from the front
- Basic White cardstock – 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″ and 4″ x 5 1/4″ for the inside
- Real Red cardstock – 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″
- Kit card base – 3″ x 4″
The Shaded Spruce layer on this card is actually the center of the card base that was popped out from the card base used in the card 1. Waste not, want not, right? And that frame can be used on a scrap layout – so win-win!! The Basic White strip is randomly stamped with the the pine branch and holly berries in Shaded Spruce and Real Red ink and attached with Seal. The Real Red/card base layers are attached on the left side only to create the opening flap for the card. I die cut another bird image from the Dsp, attached with Seal to a die cut from the kit and then added to the card with dimensionals. I stamped the two separate sentiments from the kit on one of the labels from the kit and attached the little piece of ribbon from the kit with Seal and added it to the card with dimensionals. I then sprinkled on some more pearls for bling.

Here are the measurements:
- Shaded Spruce card base – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Kit card base – 2 @ 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Basic White cardstock – 3 3/4″ x 5″ and 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ for the inside
The top layer for this card is actually one of the window portions of the card base from the kit. I wanted to showcase the Cardinal stamp, so after trimming the card base, I added the larger white layer to the back, stamped the Cardinal in Memento ink and colored him with Real Red Stampin Blends and Pumpkin Pie Blends for the beak and feet. His feet look like he’s on a perch, so I masked a portion of the branch in Shaded Spruce ink, stamped off and then stamped it under his feet. I then stamped, colored and die cut the garland and then added it to the card with dimensionals and sprinkled with pearls.
For the inside, I added the other piece of the kit card base and the stamped white layer.
Isn’t that a gorgeous kit? And by cutting up the card bases, you will get more than the 9 cards. I just love how Paper Pumpkin keeps improving! The next kit will be little stocking treat holders.
