Hey everyone! Happy Thursday! I hope your week is going well. If this is your first time stopping by, welcome and please be sure to join my email list to keep up on all the scrappy news around here. Today we are playing with the May Paper Pumpkin Kit, Creating In Color. Have you seen our beautiful new In Colors? They are so bright and cheery! This kit creates 10 cards, 2 in each of the new In Colors and has a Basic Gray ink spot. If you didn’t catch my Facebook Live, you can watch the replay over on my YouTube Channel here. While you’re there, I would appreciate it if you gave my video a thumbs up and share it with all your crafty friends. And, if you’re not a subscriber yet, I would be honored if you subscribed today. So let’s take a look at my scrap layout first:
Here are the measurements for the layout:
- Neutrals 12″ x 12″ cardstock in Basic Gray
- Parakeet Party cardstock cut at 8″ x 8″
- Basic Gray cardstock cut at 7″ x 7″
- 2022-2024 In Color DSP in Parakeet Party cut in quarters on the diagonal
I love how Stampin’ Up! colors coordinate with everything in our lives. If we don’t have the color you need right now, just wait, it’ll come! This picture just exudes the happiness of this child, my grandson. That face!!! As you can see, the colors I chose coordinate with his high chair cover. I started with my DSP first by cutting it in quarters. I took a piece of Basic Gray and cut it just an inch larger then the DSP. When I attached the DSP with Stampin’ Seal+, I turned two of the pieces upside down so that both patterns show. I then layered it to the Parakeet Party layer and then all to the Basic Gray base. I added the photo right to the center of the layout with Stampin’ Seal+, which I like to use for scrapbooking. Next I took the sentiment die cut from the Kit and stamped the little splotches in Parakeet Party ink randomly over the die cut and added it to the base with dimensionals. Next I took one of the sentiment strips and stamped one of the sentiments in Basic Gray. I layered it to one of the Parakeet Party strips from a card layer in the kit, and then attached both layers to the base with dimensionals. I added a double bow of Parakeet Party Baker’s Twine from the new Annual Catalog and sprinkled on some of the matte dots from the kit. I fell in love with this layout!!! Who says you can’t scrap with 6″ x 6″ paper?!? 😉 Now let’s look at card 1:
Here are the measurements:
- Card base in Tahitian Tide cardstock cut at 81/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Card base from the kit cut in 2 pieces, the front at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and the back at 3 3/4″ x 5″
I really like the foiling in this kit. After I trimmed my layers, I added the card base front to the card base with Stampin’ Seal. Next I took the Tahitian Tide banner from the kit and added a piece of the Tahitian Tide Metallic Ribbon as a strip across the front. I then attached it to the card front. I layered on the sentiment die cut and then added a bow from the same ribbon with a mini glue dot. I added two of the matte dots and the front was finished.
For the inside layer, I took the other piece of the card kit base and using my Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Blends, colored to match the banner on the front. I started with the Light Marker adding stripes, then coloring over the stripes to make it darker and then doing the same with the Dark Marker. I love how versatile these alcohol markers are! Next I took a sentiment from the Celebrating You stamp set and stamped it in Basic Gray.
I don’t need to worry about the envelope as I can use one of the gorgeous color-lined envelopes from the kit. Let’s look at card number 2, which is actually a gift card holder:
Here are the measurements:
- Card base in Starry Sky cardstock cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 1 1/2″ and 5 1/2″
- Card base from kit cut at 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″, 1 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ and 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″
The kit actually contains a little piece of colored cardstock that you can create a gift card holder, but of course I had to change it all up! I received a swap card in this style of card base and thought it was perfect for this kit. To create the gift card holder part of the card, I folded the short score line and then punched a thumb hole for the gift card using the new Decorative Circle Punch at the edge. I thought it emulated the card front a little bit. I added a strip of the tear and tape at the two edges and secured it down. Then worked on the card front. The white card base from this kit has the curved edge and you’re supposed to just add the top layer to it, but I wanted some of the white to show at the bottom as a layer. After I trimmed it all, I attached it to the card front at the fold and then added the extra strip at the right edge of the card. I stamped the foiled circle die cut from the kit in Starry Sky ink and added some gold shimmer ribbon with Stampin’ Seal. I attached it to the card front with dimensionals and added two of the matte dots for my bling.
For the inside  Next I took the inside layer and stamped the splotches a few times in opposite corners in Versa Mark ink and heat embossed some gold embossing powder to coordinate with the front. I stamped the sentiment in Starry Sky ink and then attached it to the inside close to the fold so that it hides behind the front of the card.
