Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday!! Today is definitely one of those days that I just couldn’t get anything done. You know those kind…start on something and something happens where you can’t finish what you started so you move on to the next thing….then something goes wrong with that so you move on…..   Well, I’ve moved on too many times to count today, so I’m going to quit for the day, right after I post this project. 🙂

This is the card I created for our team swap. The theme was Man Card March and we were to create a masculine card. This coincided with my card class earlier on Saturday for all masculine birthday cards. Lots of fun and of course I forgot to take pictures. Again. One of these days I’ll get some so I can post them here for you. So let me give you the measurements for my card:

  • Card base in Sahara Sand cardstock, cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Whisper White cardstock cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Wood Textures Designer Series Paper cut at 2″ x 4″

I created a template with a scrap piece of cardstock cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″ with a circle cut into it at the top. I used one of the Layering Circle Framelits to create this. Then I used the template as a mask over my Whisper White cardstock and stamped the Hardwood stamp in Sahara Sand ink over the whole. When you lift the template the stamped image looks kind of like a ghost image. It’s a cool effect to create. Then I took the Happy Birthday image from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set, inked it in Versa Mark in, then in Early Espresso ink and stamped it over the wood grain. I then sprinkled on some clear embossing powder and heat set it. Using the darker ink works perfectly over the light, but I wanted the dimension that the heat embossing gave it. Once that was done I adhered the DSP to the Whisper White cardstock, then added that gorgeous Copper Ribbon. I did the “cheater method” to save ribbon. The “cheater method” is just cutting a piece of ribbon long enough to tape both ends to the back of the cardstock, then cut another little piece to tie in a knot. When you’re mass producing cards, this helps your ribbon go a lot further. Once the ribbon was on, I adhered them both to the card base. Now, you know how I love bling, so of course I had to add it to this too, which can be tricky on a masculine card. I colored some rhinestones with a dark brown Sharpie which makes the rhinestones look like copper, then added them to the card. What do you think? The girls loved the cards and even hubby liked it. Win-win!

Here’s a cute swap card by my downline Mattia. I love this! I love the choice of DSP for wizard, it’s perfect!! Isn’t it adorable?
