Hey everyone! How is your week going? I wanted to show you another look at the Buffalo Check background stamp today and one of the things that you can do with it. Here are the measurements for my card:

  • Card base in Thick Whisper White cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Basic Black cardstock cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Real Red cardstock cut at 5″ x 3 3/4″
  • Whisper White cardstock strip cut at 1/2″ x 3″

I bet when you first looked at this card you thought I used some Designer Series Paper, right? Nope! I stamped the Real Red cardstock with the Buffalo Check stamp in Tuxedo Black. I first cut it at 5 1/4″ x 4″ so that I made sure the pattern fit all the way to the edges. Then I took a ruler and a white gel pen and drew the pattern on. Isn’t that cool? It looks really similar to the Festive Farmhouse DSP doesn’t it? I have to say, I’m loving this background stamp! I had originally planned on making another Christmas card, but I thought that since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and my dear hubby’s birthday is coming too, I decided to go a different way. And this card could be used for either event! Win-win!

I pulled out my Country Livin’ stamp set and stamped the truck in the Tuxedo Black, then colored the image with my Blend pens. Then I cut it out with the Layering Ovals framelits. After I trimmed down the red piece, I cut a piece of Basic Black to mat it on. To save paper I cut the scalloped oval out of the middle of the black layer, then adhered the red cardstock on top. No one knows I did that except you! I added both layers to the card base and then added the the scalloped oval with dimensionals after I adhered the image to it. I found a scrap strip of Whisper White in my stash and stamped the sentiment on it. It’s from the Another Wonderful Year set. In fact, I bought this set just to have this exact sentiment because everyone in my family says it. This will be one of those sets I keep after it retires because of this sentiment too. Once I stamped it, I flagged the ends with my snips and added it to the card front with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. Isn’t it a great masculine card? Here’s a close up of the pattern that I created. You could do this with any color combination too.

I am very excited that the Buffalo Check stamp set will be carrying over after the Holiday Catalog retires, but there are a lot that wont’ be. Have you seen the Year End Closeout List yet?
