Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday! I have to tell you, I am in love with this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit. It was the 5th anniversary so you knew they were going to do something special. Well, I love everything about it from the box to the huge sheet of dimensionals. Here’s a look at what we got:
Check out that sheet of dimensionals!!!! Holy Cow! I would LOVE to see dimensional on that size sheet in the new Annual Catalog! I don’t know about you, but I use those on just about every card I create! The kit also included a free gift of wooden embellishments, one of which is on this card I’m sharing with you. There 8 note cards and envelopes and 8 seed packet type envelopes, all with a very vintage feel. The ink spot is in Early Espresso and there’s some Fresh Fig Ribbon and some pearls in Fresh Fig and Powder Pink and a whole spool of white baker’s twine. Oh and some bronze brads for the envelopes. LOVE LOVE LOVE this kit!! And did you know that if you are a new subscriber to Paper Pumpkin now until May 10th, you will get your first 2 months subscription at a 50% discount! This is some of the best happy mail you can get! You can check out the details and subscribe by going here. The best part is there is really no obligation, you can cancel any time if you don’t like it. But who doesn’t love a surprise in the mail and crafting?
So here are the measurements of my card:
- Card base in Early Espresso cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Very Vanilla cardstock cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Seed packet opened and cut at 3 3/4″ x 5″
First I adhered the Very Vanilla to the card base, then the seed packet layer on top of that. It was a little tricky getting that packet open and trimming it to size, but I love the look of it. It reminds me of a very old seed packet from the early 1900’s. Then I pulled out my Flower Shop Stamp Set and stamped the two flowers first in Versa Mark, then in Early Espresso ink, covered it in Clear Embossing Powder and heat embossed them. I love how it gives the flower detail a shiny embossed image. I used my Paper Piercer and poked a hole in the middle of each flower so I could put a brad in the middle. I added them to the card front with dimensionals. I next took out the wooden label and inked the sentiment from the kit in Versa Mark and Early Espresso just like before, and embossed the sentiment with the Clear Embossing Powder again. I have to tell you, make sure you don’t over ink the stamp when you stamp on the balsa wood, because it will bleed. Once the sentiment was set, I glued the wooden piece to the card front using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I wanted to make sure it would stick. I tied a bow in the twine and added it to the embellishment with a Mini Glue Dot, sprinkled on some pearls and called it done. I absolutely love this card!!! I would love to see a whole pack of this vintage paper in the new catalog.
Isn’t it fun to see what else you can do with the Paper Pumpkin kits? There are so many beautiful ideas out there and I couldn’t wait to try my ideas on it. Be sure to come back on Friday to see my Fabulous Friday project. It will be another alternate card from this kit. I hope you enjoyed today’s card and I thank you for stopping by!
