Hey everyone! Happy Monday! How is your start to the week going? I am so excited for this week, we leave tomorrow to celebrate my grandson’s 5th birthday at Disneyland!! Woo hoo!! So I’m trying to get as much done as I can today! And of course that’s when you have the most interruptions, right?!? lol Today we are taking a last look at the retiring stamp set and thinlets Petal Palette and Petals & More Thinlits. I remember when this first came out last year, we couldn’t keep them in stock. But it’s time to say good bye. Here are the measurements for my card:
- Card base in Daffodil Delight cardstock cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
- Gingham Gala DSP cut at 2″ x 4 1/4″
- Shaded Spruce cardstock cut at 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ for the inside
- Whisper White cardstock cut at 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ for the inside
When I started this, I knew I wanted to use the gingham dsp because it too will be retiring soon. I found the scrap of Daffodil Delight piece and decided that would be my card base color too. I grabbed a piece of scrap Whisper White cardstock and stamped the roses. I pulled out my Daffodil Delight and Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends Markers. Here’s a tip, when coloring with the Daffodil Delight, be sure your black ink is completely dry. For some reason even with the Tuxedo Black the yellow will smear the black ink unless it’s really dry. After I colored the flowers I cut it out with the die and added some Wink of Stella. Next I stamped out the sentiment and punched it out with the Pretty Label Punch. I layered it on a 1 3/4″ circle of Shaded Spruce cardstock and then a 2″ circle of the Sparkle Glimmer Paper. I attached all of them together and went to work on the card base. I attached the gingham strip towards the bottom, then added the sentiment label with dimensionals over that. Then I added the flowers with dimensionals at the top. I thought it needed a little something, so I pulled out my rhinestones and colored some with my Blends markers to coordinate. I love my Blends!!
For the inside, I stamped the small flower in the corner and colored it, again using the Blends markers and added some more Wink of Stella. If you aren’t familiar with Blends, they’re the alcohol markers from Stampin’ Up! What I like about them, besides the fact that they color so well, but they are named after our color families and there’s only a dark and light to each set. Makes it super easy to color and coordinate to your project! Once I finished coloring, I stamped the sentiment, mounted it to the Shaded Spruce layer, then added both to the inside of the card.
Isn’t that cute? The yellow is just so bright and cheery! Whoever gets this card is sure to smile!! Now if you would like to order anything from today’s project, just head over to my online store here. I am actually going to have an order special this week.
