Happy Thursday everyone! I hope your week is going well. After all the waiting for the January Paper Pumpkin Kit, I was finally able to play with it! Someday we will look back on these last two years and wonder how we got through it all…and I have one word for it….PATIENTLY!! lol So were you able to catch my Facebook Live for today’s alternate projects? If not, you can watch the replay on my YouTube Channel here. While you are there, I would love it you would like and share my video and subscribe to my channel if you haven’t done so already. I have to say that for a Valentine’s Kit, this was a pretty good one. It made 9 tri-fold, heart shaped cards. I even liked the treat boxes that were an add-on item. I mean, what a deal, you get 20 boxes, tags and gold trim for $10.00! Can’t beat that! Here’s a look at one of the treat boxes. I filled with with 3 of the Ghiradelli double heart caramel filled chocolates.

No let’s start take a look at my layout.

Here are the measurements:

  • Neutrals 12 x 12 in Gray Granite
  • Basic Black cardstock cut at 1 3/4″ x 9″
  • 2 Treat Boxes cut at 1 3/4″ x 10 1.2″ (attached at box top fold) Item #160147
  • Sweet Talk DSP cut at 3″ x 9″
  • Pacific Point cardstock cut at 2 1/2″ x 7″
  • Basic Black cardstock 3 cut at 3 5/8″ x 3 5/8″ for the photo mats

Let’s face it, creating a Valentine’s page on guys can be a little tricky, especially when the kit has lots of pink in it. Since the ink spot in this month’s kit is Gray Granite, I went with that for my base. I saw this sketch on the Scrapping Reflections Facebook Group and thought it looked really cute and that it would work well with this kit. I trimmed my photos down to 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and attached them to the photo mats. I then started at the left and layered my panels on using Stampin’ Seal +. I had a strip of the Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon in my scraps, so I added it to the seam on the treat boxes. I did use some regular Stampin’ Seal for that. It can be kind of sticky, so you have to be careful when you add it. Next I stamped my 3 hearts from the kit and added them to the layout. I cut one of the card bases and added it to the lower left. I added a little bit of journaling to the sentiment heart from the kit with a Gray Granite Stampin’ Write Marker. I attached it to one of the Flirty Flamingo die cut hearts. The die cut arrow is just a little too small for the Flirty Flamingo die cut, so I cut it in half and attached each of the halves with a little Stampin’ Seal and then added everything to the card front heart. I love how it points at my guys (hubby and grandson). The picture on the left had someone in the background, so I took a tag from the add on kit and stamped the sentiment from the Sweet Conversations stamp set in Gray Granite ink. I added it to the picture with a couple of dimensionals from the Paper Pumpkin kit. To cover the tag hole, I added a little knot in that shimmer ribbon. For my bling, I used some of the adhesive backed sequins. I love how it turned out!! Now for today’s card:

Here are the measurements:

  • Card base in Real Red cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″, trim off 1″ on front
  • Sweet Talk DSP cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″, trim off 1″ on right side
  • Basic White cardstock for the inside cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″

I think this is one of my very favorite fun fold patterns for cards. It’s simple and it packs an “oooohhhhh” every time someone sees it! So to create the layers, start with your card base and fold in half. Trim one inch off the left side of the card front to equal 1″ x 5 1/2″. This creates your swing arm for the card front. Take that 1″ piece and trim off 1″ and then score at 1″ so that now you have a 1″ x 4 1/2″ strip with a 1″ score line. Now take your DSP layer and trim off 1″ off the right side to create a 1″ x 5 1/4″ strip that will be attached to the inside layer.. Attach the remaining 3″ x 5 1/4″ piece to your card front. Next, attach the 1″ piece of DSP with the reverse side up so that you have the two different patterns showing on the right side of the white layer. Stamp your sentiment on the inside layer. Add adhesive to the back of the white layer and attach the 1″ scored part swing arm to the back. Add a little adhesive to the 1″ portion of the swing arm and then attach it all to the inside of the card. The swing arm fits between the card base and your inside layer with the long portion folding over your card front. If I lost you in this step, check out the video here. I stamped the sentiment from the kit in Real Red and the heart/arrow image in Blushing Bride inks.

For the label on the front, I stamped the XO in stamped off Blushing Bride ink on one of the gold foil embossed hearts for the kit. I then stamped the sentiment in Real Red ink. In the video I used one of the sentiments from the Sweet Conversations stamp set. I then attached the heart to one of the vellum hearts from the kit and attached it to the swing arm. I took a piece of the gold trim from the add on kit and tied it in a bow and attached it to the base of the heart. For my bling, I used some of the Metallic Pearls in gold to bring out more of the gold to the card front.

For the envelope, I took one of the coordinating envelopes from the kit that have the lining in gold foil that matches the treat boxes and carefully opened it up. I then attached it to my Basic White envelope flap with adhesive and trimmed it. I figured since I used some of the card elements from the kit, I could spare one or two of the envelopes.  🙂

Doesn’t it tie everything all together nicely? I love how all of Stampin’ Up!’s products coordinate in one way or another!! So what do you think?
