Happy Thursday everyone! I hope your week is going well. Today’s project is one that I created for a color challenge. The challenge was to create a project using one of the new 2021/2023 In Colors with the combination of two other colors. I chose Polished Pink, Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight. Were you able to watch my Facebook Live this morning? If not, you can watch the replay here on my YouTube Channel. And while you’re there, be sure to click on the subscribe button so you can be notified when I post a new video.
- Card base in Thick Basic White cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Coastal Cabana cardstock cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Basic Black cardstock cut at 3 3/4″ x 5″, embossed
- Basic White cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″ for the inside
I really love the colors together, but the black just makes them pop! And the fun part is I used all scraps, including the card base! Gotta love using up those scraps!! I pulled out my In Bloom stamp set and coordinating die set, the Pierced Blooms. This bundle set carried over from the January – June Mini Catalog and this is actually the first time I have used it. I think it’s going to be a fun one to use to create some adorable embellishments for scrap pages! And this die set is perfect for cutting all those flowers and leaves in your scraps because of the size. I started by embossing the black with one of the Meadow Moments 3D Embossing Folders. I know I could have used the black without the embossing, but it just gives that extrat little bit of texture. I know it’s hard to see in the picture since it’s black, but it’s there. 😉
Next I just started die cutting flowers in the Polished Pink and Daffodil Delight scraps and the leaves in the Coastal Cabana scraps. I then attached the black layer to the Coastal Cabana layer and then both to the card front. Then I just started cutting flowers, flower centers and leaves. I wasn’t sure what all I was going to use, so I just started cutting. After I was done, I started layering. I layered two of the longer leaf stems back to back. I attached the flower centers with some of the Liquid Glue. You could definitely use Mini Glue Gots, but with the liquid glue, you have some wiggle room to move the centers before they dry. Next I attached some of the leaves to the backs of the flowers and then added the flowers with dimensionals and Mini Glue Dots. To fill in some of the space, I added a couple of the littlest flowers and rhinestones. I then stamped the label, which is also from the die set, in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and added it to the card front with dimensionals. And of course, had to add a rhinestone to it. One can simply never have enough bling!
For the inside, I stamped the sentiment, also in black and added a left over flower and leave to bring the outside in and glued the layer to the inside of the card.
I stamped the envelope with some of the flower images from the stamp set for my decoration. I’m not happy with it, but it’s better then a naked envelope. Remember, no naked envelopes!!
So what do you think? I love the colors! I think you could even use one of the black and white pieces of cardstock from the Pattern Party pack of DSP and it would be gorgeous. And speaking of DSP, There’s only a little more than a week left of our paper sale!
