Happy Valentine’s Day!! I hope whatever your plans are you enjoy yourself today. We won’t be doing much except making a nice dinner at home. We’ve been dealing with a bit of weather around here…well more then a bit actually. We ended up with a snow storm that dropped almost a foot of snow. Now I know for some of you that doesn’t sound like a lot, but for here in Redding, CA, it is a lot! So much so that the city was flat shut down. Schools are still out due to a lot of damage and safety issues and there’s still many that are without power since about 4 am yesterday. Next we’ll be dealing with a lot of rain, so it’s going to get uglier before it gets better. We are safe and that’s a lot to be thankful for! Now, back to today’s project. It’s another look at this week’s Product of the Week, the Sale-a-bration stamp set Home to Roost. Here are the measurements for my card:
- Card base in Basic Black cardstock cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ and 3/4″ x 4″
- Real Red cardstock cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Botanical Butterflies DSP cut at 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″
- Whisper White cut with largest stitched square and 1/2″ x 4″
This is another “made from scraps” card, which are my favorite!! I embossed the Real Red layer with the Hexagon Dynamic Textures Embossing Folder, then adhered it to the card base. I took a scrap of Whisper White and stamped the rooster in Memento Tuxedo Black since I was planning on coloring with my Stampin’ Blends. This is the best ink for coloring with our alcohol markers because it won’t bleed. Next I colored the rooster with the Real Red Combo and the Light Basic Black and the ground with the Light Crumb Cake marker, then cut it out. I cut the scrap of Botanical Butterflies DSP (also a Sale-a-bration item) to make a mat for the rooster layer and added a scrap piece of the 1/8″ Real Red ribbon. I had another piece that I tied into a bow and set it aside. I adhered the rooster layer to the DSP and then both to the card front. I then added the bow with a Mini Glue Dot. Great way to use up those little scraps of ribbon!! Then I grabbed a strip of Whisper White and stamped the sentiment and added it to the Basic Black strip and then added them both to the card front. Then I added some of the red rhinestones and voila! Done! I love how it turned out, how about you?
