Happy Thursday everyone! I hope your week is going well. Today we are playing with the Hey Birthday Chick Bundle. I know that the information in the Jan-June Mini Catalog only shows a stamp set, but this past Tuesday we had a special release of coordinating dies for this stamp set and the re-release of the Hey Chick stamp set and coordinating dies. How fun is that? Were you able to catch my Facebook Live this morning? If not, you can catch the replay here on my Youtube Channel.
Here are the measurements for the card:
- Card base in Gorgeous Grape cardstock cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
- Subtles DSP (part of the new Starter Kit promotion pack) in Highland Heather cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Basic White cardstock cut at 1″ x 4″ and 4″ x 10 1/2″, scored at 5 1/4″ for the inside
This card is for those purple lovers, don’t you think?? I love the bright colors of this card. This bundle is so cute and if you already have the stamp set, you just have to get the dies! I actually started with a card base from my stash and then chose my piece of DSP. We currently have a pack of DSP for the Subtles color family, but this piece is from the new pack that you can get when you purchase the Starter Kit. We’ll talk about that more later. For now, I trimmed the piece to fit my card base. Next I had a 1″ x 11″ strip of Basic White in my stash, so I trimmed it to 4″. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set in Gorgeous Grap ink and attached it about 1/2″ from the bottom of the DSP layer. Next I grabbed my purpleTri Color Ribbon and snipped a piece just long enough to fit across the layers. I attached it with Stampin’ Seal adhesive on the back of the layer and then attached the entire layer to the card front. Next I cut out some of the streamers with in Gorgeous Grape and Basic White cardstocks and glued them to the top of the card usiing my Multipurpose Glue. I then stamped the chicken with the balloon on a scrap of Basic White in Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends. I started with the dark adding in shading and then colored it all with the light. I used Mango Meloday for the beak and feet and Poppy Parade for the comb. The balloon is colored with the Highland Heather Blends and then I added some Wink of Stella. I also stamped the little chick in the egg in Tuxedo Black and colored with the light Daffodil Delight Blends, Mango Melody for the beak and feet and then I added highlights of the Light Gray Granite Blends. Both were then die cut with the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. I added the larger chicken to the front of the card with dimensionals and added some rhinestones for bling. I colored two of the large ones with my Dark Highland Heather Blends Marker to accent more purple.
For the inside of the card I stamped wild haired chickein on the top of the inside layer and colored him with the Poppy Parade, Light Gray Granite and Mango Melody Blends. The cupcake is colored with the Highland Heather, Purple Posy Blends and the Mango Melody Blends. I then stamped the two sentiments in Tuxedo Black ink. I then added some of the confetti in Gorgeous Grape ink, although I forgot to stamp that in my video. Oops! To create the pop up piece, you fold the layer at the score line and on the outside of the fold, make to cut lines about 1/2″ to 3/4″ in and about the same width apart. Then open the layer and push out that section so that when the card closes, that piece lays flat. Open it up and you’ll see what looks like a step; that’s where I glued the little chick. I used my Stampin’ Seal, but you could use a Mini Glue Dot if you’d rather.
After the chick is attached, close the layer again and add adhesived on the edges of the top layer. Set it inside the open card base and butt the top edge of the folded layer to the inside of the score line of the card and close the top of the card on top. Turn it over and repeat on the back side and you are done. You may want to watch the video if this is confusing to you.
Next I stamped the confetti across the flap of the envelope in Gorgeous Grape ink.
