Hey everyone! Happy Thursday!! I am busy prepping for my card class on Saturday, Birthdays for Him. The sun is shining and I have the windows open listening to the birds, basically enjoying my morning. With all this spring activity right outside my window, I had to stop the man card prep and create something springy, and of course from all scraps!! Here are the measurements for today’s card:

  • Card base in Thick Whisper White cardstock cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″
  • Gingham Gala DSP cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Night of Navy cardstock cut at 3″ x 4″
  • Whisper White cardstock cut at 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″

This is when all those scraps come in handy. I was able to pull everything out and just go for it! I stamped that sweet squirrel from the Fable Friends stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento ink since I was going to use my Blends markers. Such a cute stamp set!!! I colored him with my Smoky Slate Combo Blends Markers. I think the fact that you don’t have numbers for your color names is a huge advantage for people. Knowing that the maker colors are going to match the cardstock, ribbon or whatever else you’re using in that color family is fantastic!! I colored the shirt using my Light Night of Navy marker. I added the Dark Daffodil Delight marker to the flower center and to the stripes on his sleeves. I used the Granny Apple Green combo for the leaf and stem. I then stamped the sentiment and adhered this down on the Night of Navy layer and added some Wink of Stella to the flower center for some bling. Then I remembered something that another demonstrator said about coloring with the blends. You don’t want your image hanging in mid-air, so add some shading for ground and air. Well….I did this and I’m not happy with it, but oh well. I guess that’s something I’ll need to work on.  🙂  I added a little bit of adhesive to the back and added that piece of doily, then adhered it to the card front. Then I found a left over bow in that gorgeous Night of Navy gingham ribbon and added it to the card. I LOVE that ribbon!! I really hope it carries over yet again! And there you go! A cute spring card.
