Hey everyone! It’s here! It’s here! Summer is here! And with it comes lazy days and warm (ok, here in Redding HOT) weather. So to celebrate I created this fun card. Doesn’t it just scream summer? Here are the measurements for this card:
- Card base in Blueberry Bushel cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Pineapple Punch cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″
- Balmy Blue cut at 5″ x 3 3/4″
Like my sky on this card? Remember this past Tuesday’s CASE-ing Tuesday sample? The sample is located on page 48 in the new Annual Catalog and there’s a tip just to the side of the picture that says to lighten the effect of the cardstock, swipe on the Whisper White Craft ink pad across it. Well…I did that on Tuesday’s card and thought, hey, that would work well for creating a sky too. And it does! I chose the new Balmy Blue which is the perfect shade of blue for the sky. Then I swiped my craft ink pad randomly across just the top. I was careful to do it lightly so they are wispy type clouds. While that was drying, I cut out my Adirondack chair in Lovely Lipstick. Then I stamped the drink in Pineapple Punch ink on vellum cardstock, sprinkled on some clear embossing powder and heat set it. This is so the Pineapple Punch ink doesn’t smear and it gives the glass almost a frosty look. Next I grabbed my Granny Apple Green ink pad and the Sheltering Tree stamp set. I love the image that is used for the grass and thought this would be the perfect addition. To add the glass to the arm on the chair, I rolled a couple of Mini Glue Dots and stuck one on the base of the glass and one on the straw and then added it to the arm. By rolling the glue dot, it minimizes the area that it attaches to, plus it’s harder to see it through the vellum, and it gives it a little height too.
Before I adhered the chair down, I stamped the sentiment in Blueberry Bushel ink. I cut a couple of Mini Dimensionals and added them to the chair, then adhered it down on the card base. I absolutely love how this turned out! And I used 3 out of the 5 new In Colors!! See how gorgeous they are and how well they coordinate with other colors? You know you need to add them to your collection!!
I hope your first day of summer is a good one. We’re going to be hot and I think a glass of lemonade would be perfect! Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great afternoon!
