Hey everyone! Happy Thursday! I hope your week is going well. If this is your first time here, welcome and be sure to join my email list for all the scrappy news in my neck of the woods. Be sure to check your spam folder afterwards too because sometimes my emails end up there. Technology can be tricky sometimes. This week I have been sharing alternates to the January Paper Pumpkin kit and thought since the February kit will coordinate with the Happy Birthday to You stamp set, I thought it was time to play with it. Not only will it coordinate with Paper Pumpkin next month, but on Tuesday you’ll be able to purchase some coordinating dies to go with it! Win-win! And today was one of those days that I needed some quiet time, so coloring was the perfect therapy!

Here are the measurements to today’s card:

  • Card base in Thick Whisper White cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Subtles DSP cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 3/4″ x 4″ for the inside
  • So Saffron cardstock cut at 3″ x 4″
  • Whisper White cardstock cut at 3″ x 4″ and 3 3/4″ x 5″ for the inside
  • Balmy Blue cardstock cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″

I started by stamping the cake in Tuxedo Black ink on my piece of Whisper White cardstock. I started by coloring the leaves first using my Call Me Clover Stampin’ Blends Combo Markers. Then I decided to color the flowers blue and chose Balmy Blue and used the combo markers. The fun part of our Stampin’ Blends Markers, Stampin’ Up!’s version of alcohol markers, is you only have a light and dark marker of whatever color you choose. And they match the colors of the Stampin’ Up! color palette! It makes it so much easier to choose your colors!! For the cake I chose the So Saffron markers and the Light Mango Melody marker. For the cake plate I chose the Smoky Slate combo and then used the Light Crumb Cake for the table top. I used some Wink of Stella on the flower petals. I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink and then attached it to the So Saffron layer. I took my piece of DSP and wrapped a piece of the Whisper White Baker’s Twine and tied it in a bow and then attached it all to the card base. I added dimensionals to my cake layers and attached it to the card front and added the two rhinestones.

For the inside I stamped the sentiment on the Whisper White layer and then attached it to the Balmy Blue layer. I had a piece of the DSP left over so I added it to the top and then attached it all to the inside of the card.
