Hey everyone! Happy Thursday! I hope your week is going well. Today’s project is an inky fall card using the Forever Fern stamp set. Were you able to catch the Facebook Live this morning? If not, you can catch the replay on my YouTube Channel here. While you’re there, I would love it if you would give my video a thumbs up and share it with your crafty friends. And if you aren’t a subscriber yet, I would be honored if you subscribed today. So here’s a look at today’s project.
Here are the measurements for my card:
- Card base in Early Espresso cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Shimmery White cardstock cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 2″ x 3 1/4″
- Cider Cinnamon cardstock die cut
- Very Vanilla cardstock cut at 3 3/4″ x 5″ for the inside
I have seen a few other people create fall cards using this stamp set, and I thought, “why didn’t I think to do that?” Do you ever have that duh moment about a set? So I thought today was a perfect day to give it a try. I started with my piece of Shimmery White layer. It is a little thicker then Basic White and Very Vanilla and works well with watercoloring. I like because of the subtle shimmer to it. I started with my Cider Cinnamon ink pad and randomly stamped the larger leaves image; stamping with the stems in the center. I then went with Bumble Bee ink and stamped it off so it wasn’t too dark. I then stamped another set of leaves in Pear Pizzazz ink, so we get all of those fall colors. Next I wanted a pop of color, so I chose Bermuda Bay ink, which is one of my favorite colors. I chose the round leaves for that color. Then to bring in some Early Espresso, since that was what I chose for my card base, I used the splatter image. Once I was done with this layer, I added some of the Early Espresso Faux Suede Ribbon. It’s a thin ribbon at only 1/4″ in width, so I added two pieces to the center of the layer and then attached it all to the card front with Stampin’ Seal. I then die cut my Cider Cinnamon scrap with one of the smaller scalloped rectangles from the Contour Scalloped Die set. I trimmed another scrap of Shimmery White to 2″ x 3 1/4″ to fit within the rectangle. I first stamped my sentiment in Early Espresso ink and then the two branch images in Bermuda Bay. I attached the layer to the scalloped rectangle and then added it to the card front with dimensionals. I tied a bow in the ribbon and attached it with a Mini Glue Dot next to the rectangle. For my bling, I colored some rhinestones with the Dark Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends Marker, Stampin’ Up!’s version of alcohol markers, and sprinkled them around the card.
For the inside, I trimmed a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and stamped the large leaves in Cider Cinnamon ink, the round leaves in Bermuda Bay ink, and the sentiment in Early Espresso. I really like the look of the sentiment at the bottom as it gives it a different look.
And don’t forget your envelope! I repeated the leaves on the front corner to give it a personal touch. You could also stamp the flap too to really decorate the envelope.
