Hey everyone! Happy Thursday!! I hope your week is going well and that for those in the Midwest, I hope it warms up soon!! I can’t even imagine that kind of cold! Today I wanted to “get back to my roots” and create a scrapbook page with this week’s Product of the Week, the Floral Romance Specialty DSP. Here are the measurements for my page:
- Page base in Early Espresso cardstock 12″ x 12″
- Sahara Sand cardstock cut at 9″ x 9″
- DSP cut at 8 3/4″ x 8 3/4″
- Blueberry Bushel cardstock cut at 4 1/4″ x 6 1/4″ and 1/2″ x 4 1/2″
- Whisper White cardstock cut at 3/4″ x 4″
I have to say that scrapbooking really makes my heart sing and I’m really not sure why I don’t create more…except that there just aren’t enough hours in the day! The DSP I used is from the same piece I used on Tuesday’s CASE-ing Tuesday card. I just love the subtle wood grain look to it. So knowing that I was going to use it for my page, I went on the hunt for the perfect picture…and you know I have plenty of that adorable grandson of mine, Charlie!! This is actually one of my favorites of him and my husband. For those that don’t know, DH plays drums in two bands and Charlie loves to play on them. I’m very lucky that they are an electronic set, so I don’t have to listen to all the banging!! lol So to create my page I chose the two pieces from the Neutrals pack of 12″ x 12″. I cut the Sahara Sand down to mat my DSP and adhered them both to the Early Espresso base. I went with the Blueberry Bushel cardstock because it matched the color of my husband’s shirt and really pops against the light color of the DSP. (for those that don’t know what DSP stands for, it’s Designer Series Paper aka patterned paper) Looking at the picture of my two favorite boys, I knew the sentiment from the Part of My Story stamp set was perfect for this! So I stamped it in Blueberry Bushel ink. Because this is a masculine page, I knew I couldn’t use a lot of embellishments, so that whole “more is less” really comes in to play here. I wrote my journaling with a Blueberry Bushel Stampin’ Write Marker on the strip of Whisper White and flagged the ends with the Banner Triple Punch. To bring in the blue some more, I added the strip of Blueberry Bushel with flagged ends. I adhered the Whisper White to the Blueberry Bushel with dimensionals, then adhered them both to my page with some Snail adhesive. Then of course I needed to add a little bit of bling, just a touch, so I added two of the frosted droplets. What do you think?
I hope you liked my page today. It felt good to “play” for a change. If you would like to order any of these products, just head over to my online store. You can actually get the Part of My Story stamp set for free by placing a $50.00 order or more, and when you use Hostess Code 2X3WFV6N, I’ll send you a pack of handmade cards.
