Hey everyone! Happy Thursday! I hope your week is going well. I know there is a lot going on in our world, but right this minute, we’re going to choose to shut it out and breathe. We’re playing with the February Paper Pumpkin Kit, Safari Celebration. Such a cute kit!!! Were you able to watch my Facebook Live this morning? If not, you can catch the replay on my YouTube Channel here. I would be so grateful if you would like and shave my video and if you haven’t subscribed to my channel yet, again, I would be grateful if you did so this morning.

So let’s start with my scrapbook layout I created.

The minute I saw those roller skates on the elephant, I was in love!! lol For those that don’t know, I grew up a rink rat in Southern California. My parents met at a skating rink, my husband’s parents met a skating rink, and I met my husband at the skating rink!!! So, you see? I just had to play with that elephant!! This layout is for two of the pictures taken at my 60th surprise birthday party at our local skating rink. As you can see, the colors in the kit coordinate perfectly!!! Here are the measurements:

  • 12 x 12 Fresh Freesia cardstock base
  • 8 1/2″ x 11″ Basic White cardstock
  • 2 scraps of Basic Black 4 1/8″ x 6 1/8″ for the photo mats

Once I realized my color scheme, it was very simple to use the base and the white layers with some black scraps for my photo mats and my die cut 60. I used one of the Fresh Freesia card bases as a layer and the Bumblebee layer is one of the envelopes that I cut open and layered on. The double bow of the Black Glitter and Fresh Freesia ribbons are attached to a tag that has my journaling on it tucked behind the picture. I used the Delightful Tag Topper Punch for the top. The monkey image was perfect for the picture with everyone and their crazy poses. lol And of course, the elephant! Then I stamped the sentiment and the cupcake in Fresh Freesia ink on the page and sprinkled on plenty of rhinestones for bling! So much fun!!! Now let’s look at my card that is an interactive card.

  • Card base in Soft Succulent cut at 10 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″, 4 3/4″, 5 1/4″, 5 3/4″, 6 1/4″
  • Kit card base in Bumblebee cut in 2 pieces at 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Artfully Composed DSP cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 2″ x 12″
  • Basic White cardstock cut at 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″
  • Window Sheet cut at 3/4″ x 3″

The trickiest part to this is the card base. If you have never created something like this, you may want to practice with a piece of copy paper. Once you have it down, then keep it as a reference. Start by folding on all the score lines and you should end up with it looking like a “W” when it’s laying face down on the desk.

From here, add a strip of Tear & Tape on one side of each of these two valleys to secure card base. When you flip it over, it looks like this picture. Add a strip of Tear & Tape on one side, but don’t remove the backing yet, this is where you will secure the monkey. If I’ve lost you, you can watch the video here.

With this card I like to create it from the inside to the outside so that once the belly band is on, you’re basically done. This card will open towards you when you hold it, so the DSP layer will go on the top of the inside layer. The bottom, I attached one of the kit bases down first. I stamped the sentiment from the kit in Rich Razzleberry ink, the color of the ink spot in the kit, and then the leaf once, also in Rich Razzleberry, stamping off first. The second leaf is in Soft Succulent, stamped off. I then attached the white layer to the Bumblebee layer. Now for the monkey, add a strip of the Tear & Tape to the back and attach him to the strip of Window Sheet. Remove the backing from the Tear & Tape on the inside flap and attach the base of the Window Sheet all the way to the crease in the card fold and secure the two sides together. Now you have finished the inside.

Here’s a better look at the sentiment layer.

Now to complete the outside. Stamp the little pebbles image at either corner in the Rich Razzleberry ink and add some of the stone embellishments. Attach this layer to the card front. Next, to add the belly band, turn the card facing down and wrap the 2″ x 12″ piece of DSP around the wide side. Add some adhesive to one side and secure to the other half of the DSP. On the front of the card, I attached the square vellum layer to the belly band with a strip of Stampin’ Seal. You don’t have to worry about it showing through as the other embellishments will cover it up. I stamped the sentiment on the Pear Pizzazz kit and set it aside. I then took one of the circle labels from the kit and stamped “you” by masking part of the sentiment. I added a couple of the leaves with Mini Glue Dots from the kit on the back of the circle and then added it to the vellum layer with dimensionals. Next I added the Pear Pizzaz label with mini dimensionals on the circle and then another leaf with a Mini Dimensional and I was done!

I really, really love how this card turned out!!! What do you think? This kit is sooooo much fun!!! And next month’s kit is going to here before we know it!
