Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is going well. Were you able to catch my live Facebook this morning? If not, no worries, you can still catch it over here. I wanted to share another project using the Sale-a-bration stamp set the Happy Birthday to You for a couple of reasons. One, on Monday Stampin’ Up! released some Coordination Product, and one those items is the Birthday Dies that coordinate with this stamp set. Soooo cute! And the other reason I wanted to share this again is, the stamp set will coordinate with the February Paper Pumpkin kit too. How cool is that? I think it is really great that Stampin’ Up! continues to create coordinating product for us so that individual products can be used with multiple items. It really gives you more bang for your buck!
Here are the measurements for today’s card:
- Card base in Petal Pink cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Pleased as Punch DSP cut at 3 3/4″ x 5″ and 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ for the inside
- Whisper White cardstock cut at 3 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ for the inside
When I received my new Birthday Dies that coordinate with this stamp set, I knew that eventually I wanted to create something on the retro side. I think I accomplished this with the cake plate looking like a piece of Depression Glass, what do you think? I wanted something soft, so I went with the Petal Pink cardstock, which is the color of the DSP I used. This paper pack was released yesterday to coordinate with the Heartfelt Punch Pack, the Umbrella Builder Punch and the Small Bloom Sale-a-bration punch, but the reverse sides have just a pattern on them. And I have to say, I love the look of this large gingham pattern! I started by stamping the cake image twice in Tuxedo Black ink so I could color with my Stampin’ Blends markers, Stampin’ Up!’s version of alcohol markers. I colored the icing of the first image using my So Saffron combo markers. Next I colored the flowers of the second image using the Petal Pink combo set for the flower petals, the Soft Sea Foam set for the leaves, the dark Calypso Coral for the flower centers and the Dark Pool Part for the berries. Next I cut the cake plate with a piece of Vellum and colored the back with my Dark Pool Party. It wasn’t as dark as I wanted, so I colored it again and then on the front side too. After I achieved the color I wanted, I set it aside. I cut the cake out and then the flowers. Since the cake plate doesn’t cover the stand in the image, I just trimmed that part off. I used a Mini Glue Dot on each corner of the base of the cake and added the plate. You don’t want to use too much adhesive when adhering vellum, as it will show through. Next I cut out the flowers and then added them to the cake with dimensionals. I added more dimensionals to the back of the cake and then added it to the front of the card base. Then of course I added some Wink of Stella to the flowers and some of the new Champagne Rhinestones for bling.
For the inside I glued a scrap of the DSP to the top of the Whisper White layer, stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink and glued it all to the inside of the card.
So what do you think? I love how it turned out!!! Now if this DSP or the Birthday Dies are on your list, don’t wait! The Coordination Products are on a while supplies last status.
