Welcome to another Fabulous Friday! Did you miss getting out your Christmas cards this year? Not a problem!! Send out some cute New Year’s cards instead!! Today’s project features the Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Cheers to the Year stamp set to create a very festive New Year’s card. The specialty paper is absolutely gorgeous with all the foiling done on it. I really wish that it could carry over too. Did you have a chance to see the video? If not, just go here to watch it. Here are the measurements for the card:

  • Card base in Thick Whisper White cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Champagne Foil cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • DSP cut at 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″

To create this card I layered the foil and the dsp together, then adhered them both to the card base. Then I cut out the numbers in Silver Glimmer Paper. Nothing screams New Years like bling!! lol To give the number some nice contrast, I then cut another set of numbers out in Basic Black and glued them with the Multipurpose Glue just a little offset so that it would have a shadow effect. Then I took a scrap piece of Whisper White and stamped the sentiment in Versa Mark and heat embossed it with some Silver Embossing Powder. Once I was done with the heat embossing, I cut it out using one of the smaller circles from the Layering Circles Framelits. Then I cut the next sized scallop in the Champagne Foil Paper, adhered them together and set them aside. I cut a piece of the Basic Black Metallic Thread and wrapped it around my fingers, pinched it in the center and added it to the back of the scallop that I had put some strips of Fast Fuse on. Added some dimensionals and set it aside. I have had so much trouble with that technique that it reminded me of my messy bun….you know how some girls look adorable with their messy buns, and then there are those of us that don’t? Well, my thread is the same way! lol But that’s ok!! There’s nothing perfect. Here’s a look at my “messy bun”.

I then took the numbers and added some of the Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to them and added them on the card at a diagonal. The thought process to this was the dropping ball in New York on New Year’s Eve. I added the sentiment piece to the left corner, sprinkled on some of the retiring (sad face here) black rhinestones and voila! Very festive New Year’s card! And yes, I am very sad that the black rhinestones are retiring!!

The DSP, stamp set and the black rhinestones are retiring, so if you want to get any of these items, don’t wait! Just head over here to order yours before they’re gone. When you use Hostess Code 4CK43AW2, I’ll send you a free goody in the mail.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a Fabulous Friday!
