Hey everyone! Welcome to another Fabulous Friday! Today we’re going to be creating a fall card using the new Stampin’ Blends. The Blends, which are our new alcohol markers, became available on Wednesday, so if you haven’t ordered yours yet, now is the time! I created this card to show you that you can use the Blends on any stamped image, including ones that have a lot of detail in them like the leaf from the Vintage Leaves stamp set. Here are the dimensions on the card:
- Card base in Cajun Craze 8 1/2 x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- DSP 5 x 3 3/4″
This card is created with all scraps too, so that’s always a win-win!! I stamped the image using the Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, which is recommended for all alcohol markers because it won’t smear when you color. Once you’ve stamped, be sure to give the ink a moment to dry to ensure the best results. The Blends come in 12 SU! exclusive colors, which have a light and a dark marker for each color, and an Ivory and Bronze for skin tones, and a Color Lifter. So I started with the dark Old Olive and just added some color to the middle of the image, then added some of the light Old Olive. Then I added some of the dark Pumpkin Pie, then the light Pumpkin Pie, then both of the Daffodil Delights. There really isn’t a right or wrong way to use these when coloring, but I prefer to start with dark, then blend in the light. Sometimes you may need to go back in repeatedly with all colors, but you’ll judge that when you’re coloring. When you are finished using a marker, be sure that when you put the lid back on you hear it “snap”. That way you know it’s sealed and won’t evaporate. Also, you want to be sure to use something under your project and our Grid Paper is the perfect solution. If you missed the video, you can see it here. Be sure to subscribe to my channel while you’re there too.
Once everything is colored the way you like it, cut out the leaf using the coordinating framelit. Adhere the DSP to the front of the card base and using Cajun Craze ink, stamp the little dots from the Painted Harvest stamp set randomly leaving the lower right open for the sentiment. Add the sentiment, also in Cajun Craze. Then adhere the leaf to the card using dimensionals and then add some Wink of Stella to give it a “dewy” effect. Then add a double bow of Whisper White Baker’s Twine with a mini glue dot. Then add a couple of the Glitter Enamel Dots and you’ve got a beautiful fall card.
Now that you’ve seen the markers in action again, you know you need to add these to your stash! Just go here to place your order. When you use Hostess Code 4CK43AW2 and you place an order of $50.00 or more before shipping and tax, I’ll send you a packet of handmade cards and a free embellishment. While you’re shopping, be sure to check out the new Color Me Happy stamp set and coordinating Card Kit. Whatever you choose, you know you’ve got some great therapy on it’s way to your house!
