Hello and welcome to another Fabulous Friday! This week’s project not only includes some of the new Sale-a-bration items, but it is a technique based card too. We are creating an element with the look of stained glass. How cool is that? Did you see today’s video? If not, you can view it here. Here are the measurements for this card:
- Card base in Calypso Coral, cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Whisper White layer cut at 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
- Petal Garden DSP layer cut at 5″ x 3 3/4″
- Whisper White layer cut at 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″
- Vellum layer cut at 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″
- Silver Foil layer cut at 3″ x 4″
- Inside panel in Whisper White cut at 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″
To create the stained glass piece, take the vellum and lightly run the Embossing Buddy across it to get rid of any static on the cardstock. Using the flower stamp from the Amazing You stamp set (free with a $50.00 purchase), stamp it twice in Versa Mark ink on the lower left and upper right corners. Sprinkle on some silver embossing powder and heat it with a heat tool. Once it’s cooled, flip it over and color the back side of the flower with the Dark Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends Marker. When creating this technique, you really need to use a deep color so that it shows since our vellum is thicker then most. Depending on how dark you want it, you may need to color over it more then once. I laid down 3 layers of color on mine. Then using some mini glue dots, I adhered the vellum to the Whisper White piece. Since vellum is see through, you need to be careful when you adhere it to something. Regular adhesive will show, so I use Mini Glue Dots. Place the mini glue dots behind the flower to cover them up. I did put some in the corners of the panel and added the Metallic Enamel Shapes to hide the glue dots. Then I adhered this to the foil layer and set it aside.
I wanted to create a more tone on tone card, so I used a piece of the Petal Garden DSP that has the pattern similar to the leaves on the stamp. I adhered it to the Whisper White layer and then added the ribbon to the left hand side of the entire layer. Then I adhered it straight to the card base. I added the flower layer to the card base, positioning to the lower left. Then I die cut the word You and Amazing in silver foil with the Celebrate You Thinlets. These are also a Sale-a-bration item that you can get for free when you spend $100.00. Gotta love free!! I added the word You to the lower right of the flower layer with some Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like how the dimension looks on this card, I think the vellum makes it really pop. Next I worked on the inside of the card.
I stamped the “are simply” in Smokey Slate and then adhered the “amazing” using the Fine Tip Glue pen. I think you could heat emboss the “are simply” with silver embossing powder too, I just chose not to. I really like how this card turned out and look forward to creating even more stained glass projects.
