Welcome to another Fabulous Friday! Today’s project is a masculine card using the Up & Away Thinlets, Lift Me Up stamp set, and Brusho Color Crystals. Did you see today’s video? If not you can catch it on my Youtube channel. Here are the measurements for my card:
- Card base in Basic Black Cardstock, cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
- Real Red Cardstock cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 3″ x 4″
- Petal Passion DSP cut at 3 3/4″ x 5″
- Watercolor Paper cut at 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″
- Whisper White Cardstock cut at 3/4″ x 4″
I know when you see Petal Passion DSP as one of the layers your first thought is “but I thought this was a masculine card”? And you’re right! It is, but that’s the nice thing about that DSP….it’s two sided with fantastic prints! I really love that paper and have been through multiple packs. The fact that you can color what you want or leave it black and white gives you the opportunity to use it for everything! So first you want to color your watercolor paper so it can dry. There’s several ways to use the Brusho Crystals. If you’ve never heard of this product before, they are color crystals that are activated with water. You get a look almost like fireworks, or you can use an Aqua Painter to really paint on the water and blend all the colors. I chose to use one of our spritzers to get the explosive effect. The cool thing about this product is you’ll never achieve the exact look twice. I think when you can use one product to achieve multiple looks, that helps your crafting dollar go farther…and we all love that!! 😉 I used the Brilliant Red and the Moss Green for my projects. The green has little specs of blue in it. It takes a few minutes to dry, but you can speed up the process with the heat tool. Here’s a close up:
Next you’ll want to cut your card base. Then layer the DSP to the larger Real Red layer. Before you adhere these two layers to the card base, take some of the Basic Black Baker’s Twine, wrap it around the layers and tie it in a bow to the left. Be sure to set it about 3/4″ from the bottom edge. That way you have room for the balloon layer. Next stamp your sentiment on the Whisper White strip and flag the ends. I used dimensionals to adhere it over the twine. If it gets wobbles, just stick a Mini Glue Dot underneath it. Once the watercolor paper is dry, adhere it to the smaller Real Red layer. Cut out the balloon in Basic Black cardstock using the detailed balloon from the Up & Away Thinlets and attach it using the Fine Tip Glue Pen. Attach this layer to the card front with dimensionals and add a few rhinestones. Since the black rhinestones retired, I colored a couple of them with a black Sharpie pen.
So what do you think? I think it turned out pretty good! If you would like to order any of these items, just head over to my online store.
