Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday! Are you ready for another look at those Fable Friends? Those little critters are just too cute! Today we’re creating a gate fold card with a belly band. Here are the measurements for my card:
- Card base in Gorgeous Grape cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″ and 1″ x 10″ for the belly band
- Gingham Gala DSP 2 pieces cut at 2″ x 5 3/8″
- Whisper White cardstock cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″ for the inside
I knew I was going to make something using the rabbit and of course it had to have to be cut out with the oval and the scalloped oval since that just screams Easter or spring to me. But I just didn’t know what else I was going to do with it. Sooooo I just started working on the rabbit. I stamped him in Tuxedo Black ink so I could color with my Blends Markers (Stampin’ Up! version of alcohol markers) and then I remembered seeing someone cut out some of the gingham paper his little jacket, so I stamped just that portion on a scrap of the purple gingham paper. I colored the rabbit with the Crumb Cake combo (love how it’s just a light and a dark of each color, no numbers to memorize!) and used the light Petal Pink for the inside of his ear. Next I fussy cut his little jacket and added it with a dot of the Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Love that glue for this kind of work because you have some time to adjust things before the glue dries. I then colored the buttons with my Dark Highland Heather Blends. I cut him out with the layering oval. He looked like he was just “there”, so I stamped the grass blades in Granny Apple Green ink and colored over the grass with the Light Granny Apple Green Blends Marker. For the sky around him I used the Balmy Blue Comb. I thought he turned out pretty good. Next I cut a scalloped oval of Gorgeous Grape, and glued him to it and then set him aside.
At that point I knew I wanted to create a gate fold, so I created the card base and added the DSP panels and made the belly band and attached the rabbit. I didn’t score the belly band, just wrapped it around the card and glued the ends together. For the inside layer I stamped the squirrel and colored him with the Smoky Slate Combo, the Daffodil Delight Combo for the daisy and used the light Soft Suede for the flower middle. Next I colored the stem with the Light Granny Apple Green Marker, his jacket in the Dark Highland Heather and the Dark Daffodil Delight for the stripes on the sleeves. I stamped the sentiment and then glued it to the inside of the card.
When I closed it up with the belly band I added some of the Gorgeous Grape Glitter Enamel Dots and called it done. I didn’t think it needed any kind of sentiment on the front, but you could surely add one if you wanted. Have I told you how much I love that all of Stampin’ Up! products coordinate so well together? It just makes creating sooooo easy!!
