Happy National Pi Day! What better way to celebrate then with apple pie? And what’s even better with this card? It’s made with all scraps! Woo hoo!! I love it when I have leftover pieces from a class and can use them on a new project. I saw another demo create a pie using the new Basket Weave Dynamic Texture Embossing Folder and knew today was the perfect day to try it out! Here are the measurements for my card:
- Card base in Crumb Cake cardstock cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Real Red cardstock cut at 2 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
- Tutti-Frutti DSP cut at 2″ x 5 1/2″
To create the apple pie I took a piece of Crumb Cake and embossed it with the Basket Weave folder. Right now through March 31st you can get the folder with the coordinating stamp set for free with a qualifying order. I love free stuff, don’t you? Once embossed, I took the cardstock and punched it out with the Starburst Punch. To give it some dimension and make it more real looking, I sponged on some Crumb Cake ink around the edge and across the top. I punched out a piece of Champagne Foil with the 2 1/4″ Circle Punch to create the pan and adhered them together with a couple of dimensionals. To create the pie plate, I cut another circle with the Layering Circles Framelits and then stamped the flowers from the Wood Words stamp set. I thought the stamp gave it a toile look. I adhered the pie to the plate with some more dimensionals, then set it aside. I layered the DSP to the Real Red cardstock and added a piece of the Whisper White Organza Ribbon. I used the sentiment from the Fruit Basket stamp set. Since it’s a photopolymer set, I was able to curve it to match the Duet Banner Punch. I added that to the card base with dimensionals (I think I’m obsessed with dimensionals. lol), then adhered the pie underneath it. I think it turned out really cute, don’t you? It almost makes me want to bake a pie! lol Here’s a closer look at that pie:
