Welcome to another CASE-ing Tuesday! If this is your first time here, please be sure to join my email list to keep up on all the scrappy news around here. Have you been over to the CASE-ing Tuesday Facebook Group to see what we are casing (copy and share everything) this week? If not, here’s a look at the sample and the sketch:
Okay, so after seeing those adorable sharks, do you have that song stuck in your head now?!? lol Hopefully I will distract you enough with my hippo card so that doesn’t happen to you. 🙂
Thankfully we have sketches to help with all the measurements, especially for cards like today’s sample. I was having trouble getting my layers right at first, so I just gave up and went with the sketch….which is why I LOVE that we have sketches too! But! I had to change the measurements up a little, of course, you know, to make it my own. lol I started with a Blackberry Bliss card base. I added a scrap of the Ice Cream Corner DSP that I trimmed to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ because I wanted the Blackberry Bliss to show just a little behind it. Next I took a scrap of Purple Posy that had been embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder, so I trimmed it to the 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ in the sketch and attached it to the card base at an angle with Stampin’ Seal. Next I created my animals. These are 3-step stamp images which would be easier to stamp with the Stamparatus, but nope, I did it the hard way! 😛 The hippo is stamped in Pool Party ink for the solid image, stamped off first, Coastal Cabana for the body, and Bermuda Bay for the face. The sweet little lamb is all in Petal Pink. I started by stamping off twice for the solid body image, stamped the body and hair image only stamping off once and then the face is straight Petal Pink. (technical description is first, second and third generation stamping, but who wants to be technical??) The horse was the tricky one….I tried using my Purple Posy Stampin’ Write Marker and coloring the body, but it was really blotchy. Now you may remember that Stampin’ Up! pulled the Purple Posy ink pad due to quality issues. Well, I still have mine and I used it for the solid body image, stamping off first. The partial body image is in Blackberry Bliss, stamped off and the face is full strength Blackberry Bliss. I then stamped the balloons in Blackberry Bliss, Petal Pink and Bermuda ink. The flower is in Blackberry Bliss ink and the bow in Bermuda Bay ink, and then I die cut everything with the coordinating dies. I then stamped my sentiment in Blackberry Bliss on a 1/2″ x 2 3/4″ scrap of Basic White. The 3/8″ width just wasn’t wide enought for my sentiment. I added the sentiment strip with dimensionals and then each of the animals with dimensionals too. For the balloons, I attached the strings that were die cut with a Mini Glue Dot to the back of the balloon and then added a dimensional over that to attach it to the card front. I attached the bottom of the string to each animal with a Mini Glue Dot that I folded in half and then tucked completely under the “string” with the tip of my Take Your Pick tool. The bow and the flower are added with Mini Glue Dots too. And I just had to add some rhinestones to complete the cuteness!
For the inside, I had a scrap of Basic White that I trimmed down to 3 3/4″ x 5″ that I stamped the sentiment on, also in Blackberry Bliss ink. I had another scrap of the DSP, so I trimmed off a 1″ x 3 3/4″ piece and attached it to the layer and then glued it in the inside of the card base.
I finished off the scrap of DSP on my envelope flap.
So what do you think of my take? As you can see I changed it up a bit, but it’s still got a feel for the original. Now it’s your turn! Create your take on the sample or the sketch and share it with us over at the Facebook Group. You can create it just like the sample (be careful though, you may have that song stuck in your head when you’re done!) or change it up a little or a lot, it’s all up to you! If you aren’t a member of the group yet, not a problem, just request to join! We would love to have you come and play along with us!
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you have a great Tuesday and that includes having a chance to get inky!
