Welcome to another CASE-ing Tuesday! If this is your first time here, please be sure to join my email list to keep up with all the scrappy news around here. Don’t you just love Tuesdays?!? I know I do! If you haven’t been over to the CASE-ing Tuesday Facebook Group yet this morning to see what we’re casing, here’s a look at the sample and the sketch:
I love that we have sketches! It really helps make your creating go so much more smoothly, especially if you’re in a hurry, your mojo is on vacation or if you’re new to the craft. Here’s a look at my take today.
As you can see I followed the sketch pretty much verbatim, with the exception of the sentiment punch. I decided to use the beloved Healing Hugs stamp set this week. It’s always good to have get well cards on hand and this set is just too pretty to pass up. I followed all the measurements in the sketch, so that made it very easy. What I really love about this week’s sample is it’s perfect to use up all those scraps! I pulled out all my papers and trimmed them to the measurements. I use Night of Navy, Blushing Bride and So Saffron cardstocks and pieces of the Neutrals and Subtles DSP packs. I ran my Whisper White layer through the new Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine that I just received and then glued all my layers down with the Stampin’ Seal adhesive. Can I just say that I love the new machine?!? It’s only available on a pre-order status for demonstrators right now, but will be available in September for everyone. Once I had all my layers glued down, I just had to add a piece of that Night of Navy ribbon from the Playing with Patterns ribbon pack. I used the cheater method by adding adhesive to each side on the back of the layer and then adding just a strip of ribbon. I took a scrap of Whisper White and stamped the flower in Night of Navy ink and two sets of the leaves in Pear Pizzazz ink and then fussy cut them out. I added the leaves to the back of the flower with some Stampin’ Seal and set it aside. Next I stamped the sprig in Blushing Bride ink in a diagonal and then added some of the other leaves in Pear Pizzazz ink. I added it to the card front with dimensionals over the ribbon and then added the flower on top with more dimensionals. Then I cut another piece to create my bow by sliding it under the piece that is already glued down and then tie the bow. By doing it this way, you have better control on where exactly you want the bow. I then stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy ink on a scrap of So Saffron cardstock and punched it out with the Timeless Label Punch and added it to the card front with dimensionals. Sprinkled on some bling and called it done!
For the inside, I found a scrap of Whisper White and trimmed it to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and stamped the sprigs and the leaves in Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz inks, stamping off first, down on the left hand corner. I then stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy and glued it down.
Now it’s your turn! Get out those scraps and create you take on today’s card and then share it on the FB Group. The fun part of casing is you get to create it your way. You can change it up a little or a lot, it’s all up to you. If you’re not a member of the group yet, that’s okay, just request to join – we would love to have you come and play along with us!
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a terrific Tuesday!
