Welcome to another CASE-ing Tuesday! If this is your first time here, welcome! I am so happy you are here and be sure to join my email list so you can keep up with all the scrappy news here. Have you seen the card we’re casing over at the CASE-ing Tuesday Facebook Group? If not, here’s a look at it and the sketch for it:
The sample pictured above is actually one of the Memories and More cards from the Magnolia Lane pack. They are such a beautiful pack of cards! I really changed things up for my take on today’s sample. Here are the measurements for my card:
- Card base in Petal Pink cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Bird Ballad DSP cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Whisper White cardstock cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″
When I started creating my take on this card, I was going to create it exactly as the sample, except using the Bird Ballad DSP. As you can see….it didn’t exactly turn out that way! But then that’s the beauty of casing (copy and share everything)! When casing you can copy as is or change it up a little or a lot, and I went with a lot! lol After I trimmed my DSP and glued it to the card base, I cut it open with one of the Stitched Nested Label dies. Next I used that same die to cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I stamped the bird image on. I used Tuxedo Black ink and colored it using my Stampin’ Blends Markers. The branch is colored with the Light Soft Suede and the Old Olive Combo markers. The birds are colored with the Light Crumb Cake and the Petal Pink Combo markers with a little bit of Light Pumpkin Pie on the beaks. Then I took the Light Pool Party Marker and colored the background. Once that was done, I glued the Whisper White layer to the inside of the card and the label on that situated so that when the card was closed, it would fit right into that window. I then stamped the inside sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set in Soft Suede ink and then the outside sentiment (from the same set) on a scrap of Whisper White and punched it out with the Classic Label Punch. I added that to the card front with dimensionals. Next I tied a piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine around the opening of the card and tied it in a bow. So while the colors are the same, my card is very different. I really liked how it turned out! What do you think?
Here’s a look at the inside:
I hadn’t really played much with this bundle, but I can tell you that I will be using it more! Now it’s your turn! Create your take on the sample and share it with us over at the Facebook Group. Since you’ll be casing, you can create it any way you want and as you can tell, I changed it up a lot. It’s fun and it really helps you get those creative juices flowing! If you’re not a member of the group, not to worry, just request to join. We would love to have you come over and play along!
Thank you for stopping by. I hope I have inspired you to create something to share with us. Have a great Tuesday!
