Welcome to another CASE-ing Tuesday! I am so glad you stopped by! Have you seen today’s sample and sketch that we are casing? If not, here they are:

Isn’t that card adorable? And usually the sketches help me, but this one had a lot going on. So here’s a list of my measurements:

  • Card base in Balmy Blue card stock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ and 2 strips cut at 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ and 2 strips cut at 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Whisper White cardstock cut at 2 1/2″ x 4″ and 3/4″ x 2″ for the sentiment
  • Highland Heather cardstock cut at 5/8″ 2″
  • Perennial Essence DSP cut at 1/2″ x 4″

This week I used the A Good Man stamp set, which I thought was appropriate since Father’s Day is coming up this week. I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black ink so I could color it using my Stampin’ Blends Markers, our line of alcohol markers. Love, love, love coloring with these markers!! They just make coloring so easy, especially since the names and colors match all of the Stampin’ Up! colors and you are only dealing with a light or a dark marker!! Easy is always better in my book! lol So I chose this image because it reminds me of my husband holding one of my daughters when they were little. It just grabbed my heart! I colored his pants with the Night of Navy combo for a denim look and the shirt with the Balmy Blue combo. For the little girl, I went with the Highland Heather combo for her pants and the Flirty Flamingo combo for her shirt. My girls loved to wear pink and purple all the time and now that they are in their 30’s, not so much. I chose the Ivory for the skin tones and used the Bronze marker for her hair. I have a hard time coloring a blonde, so the Bronze works perfect for me. I used the Light Crumb Cake marker for the man’s hair and the dark for the ground. Then I cut it out with the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I added a strip adhesive right at the edge and glued the strip of DSP to it. Next I got my card base ready and cut the strips of Balmy Blue for the framing like in the sample. I had a hard time with the measurements in the sketch, so I went with 1/4″ for all four pieces. I glued them down to the card base with our Fine Tip Glue Pen. I knew the sentiment I chose wasn’t going to fit the measurements given, so I cut my piece of Whisper White to fit at 3/4″ x 2″. I cut a piece of Highland Heather to the measurements listed and flagged the ends with the Banner Triple Punch. I tried cutting it with my Snips, but it just didn’t look right. I glued that to the back of the sentiment, added more dimensionals to the image layer and added both to the card front.

That image just shows the love between the father and daughter. It has to be one of my favorite images! As you can see, I also changed the layout from a landscape to a portrait to fit my stamp. That’s the beauty of casing (copy and share everything), you can copy as is or change it up a little or a lot. It’s all up to you! Now it’s your turn. Create your take on today’s sample and share it with us over at the CASE-ing Tuesday Facebook Group. If you aren’t a member yet, that’s okay, just request to join; we’d love to have play along! Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great Tuesday!
