Welcome to another CASE-ing Tuesday! Don’t you just love Tuesdays? So much easier then a Monday! lol Have you been over to the CASE-ing Tuesday Facebook Group to see what we’re casing today? If not, here’s the sample and the sketch:
I’m pretty sure the sample is actually a give box and the sketch did help me too much, so I played it safe and went with a card! 🙂 Here are the measurements for my card:
- Card base in Basic Gray cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Shimmery White cardstock cut at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
- Balmy Blue cardstock cut at 3″ x 3 1/2″
- Whisper White cardstock cut at 2 3/4″ x 3 1/4″ and 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ for the inside
- Smoky Slate cardstock cut at 1/2″ x 3″
Now just in case (haha did you catch the pun?) you aren’t sure what casing means, it’s “copy and share everything” which makes creating so much easier! I followed the basic sketch in the design, but changed out the stamp set to use the Let It Ride stamp set which is my Product of the Week. I chose Shimmery White cardstock to use for the background layer since I was going to do some watercoloring. That cardstock is a little thicker so it takes the water really well, but most importantly, it shimmers! You know how much I love bling!! So I grabbed my Aqua Painter and first painted on some Balmy Blue ink for the sky and them some Mossy Meadow ink for the grass. While that dried I stamped my horse image in Tuxedo Black ink on the small Whisper White layer and colored it using the Smoky Slate Blends Combo Markers. I then glued that down on the Balmy Blue layer. Next I grabbed a piece of the Braided Linen Trim and wrapped it around the base of those two layers and set it aside. I stamped the sentiment, also in Tuxedo Black ink on the Smoky Slate strip, then added it over the horse with two of the Mini Dimensionals. I set that aside to finish up my Shimmery White layer. I stamped the horses in Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with the Smoky Slate Blends Combo, then stamped the trees in Mossy Meadow ink. I then added that layer to the card base. The sample case has a bow tied in front, but I want something a little more masculine. So to tie in the whole equine feel, I took another little piece of the trim and wrapped it in a circle to imitate a lasso and added it to the sentiment strip to look like it’s hanging on a fence post. To secure it, I added a Mini Glue Dot to the back of the strip and then using a couple of little drops of the Multipurpose Glue to attach it to the front. Then I added dimensionals and added the whole thing to the card front. Since I was going for a masculine feel I didn’t add any other bling to it. Here’s a close up of the horse image:
And for the inside I just stamped the trees in Mossy Meadow, but stamped off first. I didn’t add a sentiment yet since I’m not sure who will get this.
Now it’s your turn. Create your take on today’s sample and share it with us over at the Facebook Group. Don’t worry if you’re not a member yet, just ask to join. We’d love to have you come over and play along with us! Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a great Tuesday!
