Welcome to another CASE-ing Tuesday! Today we are casing a card from the new Occasions Catalog. Here’s a look at the original card:
Isn’t it cute? I just the colors in it, gives it such a touch of spring, which I’m sure there are a lot of people wishing was here! The bird houses in the featured set, Flying Home, are just adorable. I don’t have the set yet, but you know it’s now on my wish list!
Since I don’t have the set, I had to go with another set, so I chose to keep it close to the theme and chose Bird Banter. It’s another cute set that you’ll have fun playing with! Here are the measurements of my card:
- Card base – Tutti-Fruitti Cards & Envelopes Pack
- Tuitti-Fruitti DSP layer cut at 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″
- Shimmery White layer cut at 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
- Basic Gray strip cut at 3/4″ x 3 3/4″
Knowing I was going to be coloring with Blender Pens, I went with the Shimmery White to get some more sparkle for my end result. I stamped the branch first in Wild Wasabi, then colored in the leaves with the blender pen. Then I stamped the parrot in Basic Black. I colored his face in Sahara Sand and used Peekaboo Peach for the beak. Then I used Real Red, Crushed Curry, and Pacific Point for the bird. He was a lot of fun to color and just makes me smile. Then I brought out an Aqua Painter and painted on some Soft Sky. I set it aside to dry and stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set in Versa Mark on the Basic Gray strip, and then heat embossed some white embossing powder on it. I flagged the end and tied on a piece of twine like the original card. Then I adhered everything together and added it to the card front. You can see from the picture I swapped out the colors, but kept as close to the original as possible. I then added some rhinestones and called it done. I love it!! I can see using this set a lot!
