Hey everyone! How’s your Tuesday going? I have to say that for all of those affected by the wild fires here in California, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. It definitely has been a rough couple of weeks for our country. It can be so overwhelming with everything going on, which is exactly why I love my craft room! I can go in there and shut the world out for a few hours and when I come out, I’m a little better at managing the stress. Best. Therapy. Ever.

So I wanted to share a card with you showcasing the new Stampin’ Blends, our new alcohol markers that, at the moment, are only available to demonstrators. (makes it another great reason to purchase the Starter Kit now too!!) I know we had issues with the Blendabilities, but these are the new and improved version. As you know, I LOVE coloring and was very excited to get these. One of the things I really like about them is the price point. The can be purchased as an individual marker or a combo pack. There are 26 pens plus a color lifter. The combo pack includes a light and a dark of whatever color you choose. So if you are mass producing a card and end up using one particular marker and it dries up, not to worry! You can just purchase that one marker! In the flyer that came with the pens, it recommends to use the Thick Whisper White Cardstock, so that’s what I used on this card.

Since we have the Designer Series Paper sale going on right now, I thought it would be a good time to use some of the Naturally Eclectic paper. I LOVE the colors in that paper and the markers coordinate so well with it! Here are the measurements of the card:

  • Card base in Night of Navy           11 x 4 1/4″
  • DSP                                               5 1/4 x 4″
  • Bermuda Bay                                 4 x 3 1/4″
  • Thick Whisper White                     3 3/4 x 3″

When you are coloring with alcohol markers, you need to use the Tuxedo Black Memento ink to prevent smearing when you’re coloring. The image and the sentiment are both stamped with it. Then I colored the balloon with the Rich Razzleberry markers, the puppy in the Crumb Cake markers, her color using the light Pink Piourette, and the bird in the Bermuda Bay markers and the light Pumpkin Pie maker. I know I need some practice with my shading, but I didn’t think it turned out too bad for my first shot! After I finished coloring it, I adhered it to the the Bermuda Bay panel and then add some of the Bermuda Bay Mini Chevron ribbon. I added some dimensionals and adhered it to teh the right of the card. I added a pearl to her collar and some of the White Perfect Accents to the left side of the DSP. I think she’s a cute little puppy!! This set, the Pretty Kitty and the This Little Piggy stamp sets are going to be a lot of fun to color!!

If you haven’t taken advantage of the Buy 3 Get 1 sale on the designer series papers, now is the time. AND, today is the VERY last day to order any of the stamp sets and note cards on the World Card Making Day celebration sale!!
