Hey everyone! Happy Thursday!! I hope your week is going well. Today we played with the August Paper Pumpkin Kit, the Hope Box, creating two fun folds. I also shared my scrapbook layout using the kit. This is such a beautiful kit!!!! One of the co-founders of Stampin’ Up!, Shelli Gardner helped designed this kit with the idea of filling the box with items that represent hope to us. In this day and age, we all could use hope and what better way to lift someone’s spirits then by sending out these beautiful cards? Were you able to watch the Facebook Live this morning? If not, you can catch the replay over on my YouTube Channel here. While you’re there, I would love it if you would give the video a thumbs up and subscribe if you aren’t already a subscriber. Let’s take a look at my first fun fold.
Here are the measurments:
- Card base in Blackberry Bliss cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″, trim off 3 1/4″ of front (this becomes the matte for the sentiment layer)
- Card base from kit, cut card front at 4″ x 5 1/2″ and the back of the card at 3 3/4″ x 5″
- Be Dazzling Specialty DSP cut at 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
- Basic White cardstock cut at 3″ x 4″
I love that this creation uses the entire card base from the kit! Once I had everything trimmed, I put the card base together. The best way to do this is to run adhesive along the short edge of the card front and add that strip of Be Dazzling right at the edge, leaving about 1/4″ showing. Open the card front and add more adhesive to the flap and over the bacl of the Be Dazzling DSP. Leave the flap open and lay the trimmed card front from the kit inside the card base, snugged right up to the score line, then close the small flap over the card front to adhere it all together. By attaching it in this manner you are able to make sure that card front layer is even on the back of the card base. Next I stamped the splotch image in Pool Party ink randomly around the edges of the card front. Next I took a scrap of Basic White and trimmed it to fit the piece I cut off and stamped the word Hope in Blackberry Bliss in on the bottom edge. I then took the larger butterfly and inked it in Petal Pink ink and stamped off. I then rolled the top edge of the wings in the Pool Party ink and the bottom edge in Blackberry Bliss ink and stamped it on the white. I repeated this technique with the smaller butterfly. This is basically the “rock and roll” stamping technique from many years ago. I then added a piece of the Pool Party Sheer Ribbon and attached it to the Blackberry Bliss layer, and then to the card front with dimensionals. And of course I had to add some of the gorgeous sequins from the kit for my bling.
For the inside, I blended on some Pool Party and Petal Pink inks on the back of the card front layer and then attached the large die cut with some liquid glue. Tip: use a sponge or sponge dauber to add the glue to the delicate cuts – it makes it much easier to deal with! Then I attached it to the inside of the card and added some Wink of Stella for some shimmer. Depending on how you lay the die cut, you may need to trim a tad off the side so that it doesn’t crinkle when you close the card.
For the sentiment, I trimmed the back of the card base from the kit to 3 3/4″ x 5″ so that it fit within the card front. I stamped the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink and the large butterfly in Pool Party, stamped off.
Here’s a look at the card with it completely opened.
This kit has such gorgeous envelopes that you don’t need to decorate them yourself; they’re already done for you!
Once I was done with that card, I realized that the card base intended for the large die cut we used on the inside was left….so I created another quick and easy fun fold for that it.
Here are the measurements for this card:
- Card base in Petal Pink cardstock cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″, cut 2 3/4″ off the card front to create the front flap
- Card base from kit, card front 2 cut at 2 1/2″ x 4″ and the back cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″
This card base from the kit has all the watercolor spots printed on it so that the die cut we used in the first card just layers over the top. So, of course we have to use it! After I trimmed all the layers, I glued one of the 2 1/2″ x 4″ layers on each of the flaps. I stamped the sentiment from the kit in Blackberry Bliss ink and then added the die cut pieces from the kit with liquid glue. Don’t forget the bling! To attach the flap to the card front, only add adhesive to one side on the back of the left side so that the card will open.
For the inside, I stamped the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss on one of the little labels from the kit and glued it to one of the flagged labels. I then glued the back layer to the inside and added the sentiment layers to the very left so that it would be hidden behind the front flap. (I added the word hope. In my video I realized that the front sentiment didn’t have that word in it. oops!)
Again, I am going to use one of the envelopes from the kit.
See how well the envelopes coordinate??? I absolutely LOVE this kit!! Now for my scrap layout.
Here are the measurments for my layout:
- Basic White 12 x 12
- Beautifully Penned DSP cut at 2 1/2″ x 12″
- Be Dazzling Specialty DSP 2 cut at 1/2″ x 6″ and 1 at 3″ x 1 1/4″
- Bumble Bee cardstock cut at 4 3/4″ x 6 3/4″
- Envelope from kit trimmed at 4 1/4″ x 6 1/4″
- Basic White cardstock cut at 2 3/4″ x 1″
I started with my strip of Beautifully Penned DSP and sponged on some Melon Mambo ink around the background and then added some Blackberry Bliss ink in the centers. To bring in the Bumble Bee of the photo mat, I added that to the petals of the flowers. I attached that strip to the base and then added the two strips of the Be Dazzling back to back at the edge of the DSP. With the textured of the glitter, you can’t even see the seam where they are touching. Next I added a strip of the pretty ribbon from the kit. I added the adesive to the back edge of the base and then laid the ribbon into the adhesive. I then went back and added a few Mini Glue Dots to keep the ribbon down. Next I added the photo layers with dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment from the kit on a scrap of Basic White and then attached it the piece of Be Dazziling with dimensionals. I then cut one of the flags from the kit in half and added behind the two layers with adhesive and attached it with dimensionals. The extra large butterfly from the kit is intended for the box top, but I wanted to use it on my layout. I attached it to another piece of the Be Dazzling paper with Mini Glue Dots (best adhesive for glimmer paper) and trimmed it to fit. I added it to the layout with more dimensionals. I then stamped some of the small butterflies and added the sequins throughout the layout. LOVE LOVE LOVE this kit!!
Now, if you missed out on this kit, you can actually purchase it separately without a subscription. Apparently there was some kind of glitch during the subscription period, so you can take advantage of it and purchase it! If you already have the kit, you can purchase refills now as they were just released this past Monday. But don’t wait! They are on a while supplies last status and I’m betting they’re going to go fast.
