Thoughtful Branches Sample

Hey everyone, happy Monday! I’m still adjusting to this whole retirement thing, if you can believe that. I thought I’d just step out of working full time and step right into running my stamping business without a hitch. Then throw in the fact that DH is now working from home (that wasn’t in the initial retirement plans), so it’s no wonder I’m still struggling to find my “norm”. Thank goodness for my scraproom!! Yes, that is where I was planning on being, but now it’s for sanity’s sake as well!! 😉

So you’re probably thinking that you’ve seen this sample from me before, close, but not exactly like this. I saw this card on another demo’s sit and loved the brick wall idea. I’ve used the embossing folder before, but it’s been a while and I knew I had to try this technique again. Doesn’t it look real? I love inking up embossing folders prior to running them through the Big Shot, just not sure why I don’t do it more. This time I used the Basic Gray Archival ink on the raised side of the Brick Wall EF using the ink pad itself, then ran my Whisper White cardstock to give it the brick and mortar effect. Pretty cool!

The stamp and die sets are from the new limited time offer of the Thoughtful Branches Bundle. I love that you can use the die set for more than just a tree. This time I also use the coordinating stamp set for the tree section that is used to create the hydrangea. I still used Soft Sky and Rich Razzleberry because that is my favorite color combo for those flowers. It’s hard to see in the picture, but I added some Wink of Stella to the petals. The stem is made with Garden Green and I added a bow made from the new Night of Navy baker’s twine. I stamped the thank you sentiment in Rich Razzleberry. The rhinestones around the sentiment are actually hiding some ink splotches that were left behind. See? No mistakes, just more room to embellish!

I hope you like this card. I think I like it better than my first hydrangea sample. It definitely has more depth than the other one. I can see many more hydrangeas in my future! Remember that this stamp set and thinlet bundle is only available for a limited time, so if you haven’t already, order yours today. It’s a great addition to your collection.

Be sure to come back tomorrow as I began showing the projects we’ll be making this Friday at our August Club Workshop. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great evening!
