Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday! I wanted to share one of my alternate cards from the July Paper Pumpkin kit. This kit is so fun! It coordinates with 3 of the suites from our new Annual Catalog, the Woven Threads, Garden Lane and my favorite, the Come Sail Away suite. Stampin’ Up! was really thinking on this one as it opens up so many more possibilities to use everything in the kit. And it makes 9 full sized cards, but oh so many more when you break up the kit! So let’s get down to this card. The only additional pieces I used for this card are a scrap card base in Thick Whisper White and a Nested Label cut in Whisper White. I also used the Sail Away Bundle, my Mossy Meadow ink pad and some Rhinestone Basic Jewels. The measurements are as follows:

  • Card base in Thick Whisper White cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
  • Card base from the kit cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 3 3/4″ x 5″

We had our Paper Pumpkin kit last night and while the girls worked on the other alternate projects and their kit, I created this card:

Now I love how this card turned out, even using the strip left from cutting the card base, but I wanted to use more of the kit. When I create alternates, I like to use as much of the original kit as I can to help others use up their entire kit. Then when it’s used up, they have that exclusive stamp set to use on other projects.

So this morning while I was cleaning up, I decided to use the last card base from the kit and create almost the same card but using the stamp set from the kit. Last night I actually cut the lighthouse from a scrap of Mossy Meadow. This morning I was being lazy, oh, I mean frugal lol, and cut the lighthouse from the kit’s card base after I cut it into the two different pieces. Here’s a look at it before I glued the striped piece to the Mossy Meadow piece:

Best way to use every bit of your kit, right?!? lol So after I cut that out, I glued the striped part of the card base on top and then to the card base. Since I wanted to use a larger sentiment, I turned the card to a landscape style. I cut out the Nested Label and stamped the sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink. I glued the lighthouse to the label. I added that to the card base with dimensionals. Then I realized I forgot to stamp the birds! lol So I carefully added them and a few rhinestones and voila! Done!!

As you can see, the font matches that of the Sail Away stamp set, so you can use them all on the same project.I even used the strip from the card front on the inside; waste not want not! lol

Paper Pumpkin has sure come a long way from those first kits years ago! It’s the perfect kit for anyone because it comes with everything you need to complete the kit with full printed instructions. It’s a grab ‘n go kit when you are headed to a crop, or maybe your son/daughter is in sports and you are sitting there for hours at competitions, or maybe you have an extended doctor’s visit or visiting someone in the hospital. It’s all in that cute little box just waiting for a little bit of you time. And if you love all things fall, next’s month’s kit is for you! The kit will be to create cute little gift bags in a fall theme and you can order the add-on that includes everything you need to create 24 cards for only $10.00!!! And once you become one of my subscribers, I’ll send you the printable instructions for the 2 alternate projects we create at my Paper Pumpkin event. Here’s a look at the two that the girls created last night:

This was created cutting up another card base and adding some Night of Navy cardstock and ink, a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock and a piece of the Come Sail Away DSP. Same style card but completely different with just a little twist.

We created this cute little shaker card using some of the Woven Threads Sequins and a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock. The round dimensional that was included in the kit was perfect for making the shaker portion of the card.

So if you’re ready to subscribe, just head over to the Paper Pumpkin site here and sign up. Then tomorrow you can order the add-on to coordinate with your kit. It really is the very best happy mail you’ll get! Especially for only $22.00!! There’s no obligation, if you decide you don’t like it, just cancel your subscription. But I think once you get started you won’t want to cancel. 🙂
